Pats at Dolphins history doesn't count in this game. BB has the team focused & tough enough to win this one. 4-15 in Miami during December means nothing this year. IBIT.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (9-3) vs. MIAMI DOLPHINS (6-6)
Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. ET. Hard Rock Stadium (64,767)
The New England Patriots secured the franchise's 33rd winning season since 1970 after improving to 9-3 with a 24-10 win over Minnesota last week. Only Pittsburgh (35) has more winning seasons since the 1970 merger. The Patriots also earned their 18th straight winning season, the most since the 1970 merger, and the second-most all-time to the Dallas Cowboys (20).
For the second straight season, the Patriots will close out the regular season with the same four opponents at the same venues with games at Miami (Sunday) and at Pittsburgh (Dec. 16) followed by two consecutive home games against AFC East opponents with games against the Bills on Dec. 23 and the Jets on Dec. 30.

POSTSEASON PROWESS

If the New England Patriots defeat the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday, they will clinch their 10th straight AFC East title and become the first franchise in NFL history to earn a playoff berth in 10 consecutive seasons. New England enters this week tied with the Dallas Cowboys (1975-83) and the Indianapolis Colts (2002- 10) as the only teams to play in the postseason for nine straight seasons.

IF THE PATRIOTS WIN...

  • The Patriots will clinch the 2018 AFC East title, extending their own NFL record to 10-straight division titles (2009-18). It will be the team's 18th division title since Robert Kraft purchased the team in 1994.

Shaping up to be a long afternoon. :coffee:

Also look at those stats chevss posted. Miami might be the worst 6-6 team ever on an NFL field.

This is a must win game. A victory here could set up for winning out. We know the Steelers are going to shit themselves, a win here, a win in Yinzerville next week and the season ends with the JETE and the Bills at home.

That’s what I was thinking.

How in Gods name did they manage to get to 6-6?

Turnover differential. Plus they beat the Jets twice, the Raiders and the Bills.

The Fins are 4-3 vs. sub .500 teams, 2-3 vs .500 or above.

The Pats are 3-2 vs. sub .500 teams, 6-1 vs. .500 or above.

I worry about this game. Brady goes south, feels the warm weather, and thinks about laying on a beach with Giselle instead of playing football.

Wouldn't you? :toast:

I always worry about Miami but for whatever reason, I seem to feel pretty good about it this week.

Cheers

This is one game I'm not worried about at all.

Miami is giving up 144 rushing yds/game & 5 ypc.
Looks like the Pats will call lots of running plays Sunday.

The Pats rushed for 175 in back in week 4 with Michel getting 112. Can't see that changing much. Miami will likely be without Xavien Rhodes, so Gordon could have a big day as well.

JFC, not them again? Are they like assigned to cover the Pats or something? :banghead:

Luckily they are not showing the game up here next Sunday so I get to watch it at the local alehouse (9am) where the volume is nil.
