Random Football News: 2023

Really hoping JD doesn’t just let Woody & A-A Ron to pull the strings. The Jets have two very good young receivers in Wilson & Moore. I like the Lazard signing and would even be on board with OBJ for the right deal but we do not need the New York Packers.

Just think, this is your new starting lineup on offense

QB: Aaron Rodgers
RB: Breece Hall
RB: Michael Carter
WR: Garrett Wilson
WR: Odell Beckham Jr
WR: Allen Lazard
WR: Elijah Moore
WR: Randall Cobb
TE: CJ Uzomah
TE: Jack Conklin
TE: Marcedes Lewis

A-A Rod don't need no stinking offensive line.

Austin Ekeler just got permission to seek a trade. I like the player, and the Pats could use him, but that dude has taken an absolute beating over the past few years - more than 600 targets + carries over the past 2 years...
it would take a looooooooooot of upside for me to want to trade for anyone at rb.

Allen Lizard and Iowaska Rodgers...sitting in a dark room. Glowing in the dark. Black light on. The wafting smells of sticky indica and patchouli. Puke buckets in the corner. All is funky in New Jersey...

McAfee thinks he could be actually retiring....
Retirement is still a possibility where Aaron Rodgers is concerned, though it appears as if a trade to the New York Jets is inevitable.
The quarterback went on a darkness retreat a few weeks ago and now seems intent on keeping everyone in the dark for as long as he possibly can while the Jets, their players, and their fans wait on his decision.

The saga seemed to come to a close on Monday when Trey Wingo reported that the deal was done, but the relief was short-lived as it was revealed that was actually not the case shortly after. Now, Pat McAfee is claiming that Rogers could still retire.

The veteran QB is pretty close to the former punter and is a regular on his podcast, The Pat McAfee Show. While Rodgers has used the show to announce past decisions, McAfee couldn’t promise any revelations would be made this Tuesday while also noting that the QB could still end up calling it quits.

Rodgers has narrowed things down to either remaining with the Green Bay Packers, joining the Jets via trade or retiring. The Jets appear to be averse to entering 2023/24 with Rodgers as their quarterback so we’re probably at two now as it pertains to options.
And, with a recent report noting that the player has handed NY a list of signings he wants made and one of them already getting over the line, a trade announcement could come soon.

The Jets are totally out leveraged on this Rodgers deal. The huge option bonus due to A-a ron doesn't need to be exercised until almost week 1, so the Packers are perfectly happy to wait until the draft, or longer. The Jets could end up totally left in the lurch on this, even if Rodgers does join them.

Alternatively, they're going to have to pay up whatever the Packers decide is fair. Especially now that they just gave a big contract to Lazard, with other Friends Of Aaron lining up with their hands out.

The good news for the Jets is that these deals won't be official until Rodgers signs on the dotted line. If he retires or goes back to GB, the contracts get torn up.
The bad news for the Jets is they've allowed themselves to be backed into a corner with only Matt Ryan, Minshew and Mayfield on the market to bail them out if Rodgers doesn't sign.
Woody Johnson and the Jets FO already look like fools for climbing so far out on this limb. The Jets have utterly and completely embarrassed themselves in full public view but it's too late to back it up now.

Rodgers has made this a circus and the Jets are his clowns. I don't see this ending well whether he joins the NYJ or not.

The Pat McAfee show isn't the place for Rodgers to announce he's joining the Jets. That shows disrespect to the Jets organization and their fans. Where's the integrity.
That should be announced at a press conference in their stadium. Same for GB if he intends to go back.

The only thing Rodgers should announce on McAfee is his retirement and even that should rightfully be done at a presser in GB.
