Wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk is walking away from football ahead of his third NFL season.

The Saints announced that they placed Polk on the reserve/retired list on Sunday.

Polk entered the league as a 2024 second-round pick in New England and played 15 games for the team during his rookie season. He had 12 catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns.

The Patriots traded Polk and a seventh-round pick to the Saints last September for a sixth-round pick. Polk did not appear in any games due to a shoulder injury and Sunday’s move means that he won’t be playing in any games for the NFC South team in the future either.
 
The Packers are expected to have the same starting right tackle as last season when they take the field in September, but there will be a different name on the back of his jersey.

Zach Tom told reporters on Sunday that he has changed his last name to Bako-Bewele. The name is a combination of names from his grandparents and the tackle explained that he wanted to honor his family’s Nigerian heritage.

“That’s really the main reason why I did it,” Bako-Bewele said, via Matt Schneidman of TheAthletic.com. “I want to have a name, especially when I start having kids, I want to have a name that I can pass down where it represents where they came from, where I came from. I just feel like that name — people will see that name and have a good understanding of who I am, where I come from.”

Bako-Bewele is going into his fifth season with the Packers and he signed a four-year extension before the 2025 campaign.

There's always a 'regression to the mean'. Those top 5-6 teams should regress in points off turnovers. For example, the Bears: 11-6 in 2025 and had a +1.5 pt differential. Take just half of those extra points away and their record looks more like 7-10, changing nothing else.

Agreed.Turnovers and points off turnovers are hard to predict and hard to rely on. they can mask other issues with the defense and offense. I'm always hated that defensive pick six is are counted as points for the offense and offensive pic six is are counted as points against the defense. Basically, I think they should have defensive points and offensive points.
The other thing that can mask issues with teams is scores in close games, depending on the reason for the statistic.

Bingo, you and I end up saying this every year. If some team has a really high + turnover ratio (or points off turnovers in this case), they're usually very lucky and fraudulent, because that never keeps up.
