Kyle Shanahan says his Tesla was on autopilot before accident​

Four weeks to the day after being involved in a car accident, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan had a formal press conference for the first time during 2026 training camp.

Previously, he’d met with reporters in his office and clarified that the accident, which happened while he was operating his Tesla, was his fault. On Saturday, speaking for nearly 20 minutes, Shanahan was asked if he’s mad at himself for causing the accident.

“I mean, anytime you cause an accident that could be avoided, you’d feel pretty stupid,” Shanahan said. “I mean, especially when you have a chance to hurt someone else. And so, like, I think you’d get mad when you get a ticket, at yourself. So it was kind of the same. You know, things that, you know, I think everyone’s done to a degree what I’ve done. But, you know, dropping a phone and falling all the way to my back seat where I have to fully take my eyes off the road. You know, it’s something that I normally wouldn’t do.

I do give him credit for admitting It but I'm calling him coach auto pilot from now on :jester:

Credibility has been razor thin and thinning every year Rodney Harrison isn't in, which is an argument against players voting, I guess. No system is perfect.

Polamalu being in over Rodney pisses me off. Brady made Polamalu his bitch. Nobody did that to Rodney.

And reluctantly Polamalu does belong in too but Rodney is better is what I mean.

30/30 is enough.

In a weird way, I am glad this happened. I never would have anticipated the backlash the Hall received for it and it's helped to re-emphasize what frauds the likes of Polian and Dungy are. People got exposed and called to the carpet for it. Sometimes it takes a loud response to see change.

All 3 Steelers will probably get in they seem to love Steelers. Maybe they visit the hall more than anyone else so good business to keep them happy.

Gronk and AP should be first ballot by resume, but AP won't because of his funny little proclivity for child abuse. Sherman and Ben should get in, but not 1st ballot. Brown should have been a HoFer, but wasn't.

In other news, Eff the HoF with a robotic snake made of barbed caltrops.

This started me thinking, When BB does get the call who should be the one to Induct him.

My first thought was Parcells or Ernie Adams BUT would be very BB like If he chose Rodney Harrison as a FU to the Hall :unsure:

That's a great question:

My first thought would be Brady but that's obviously complicated but it would be the ultimate show of solidarity.

Second LT just because it would be entertaining.

More realistically probably one of his kids.

Pioli, Casserio, Scar, or one of his coordinators would make a lot of sense too.

Saban just to toss out a dark horse.

It's crazy I obviously want him in but it would be so ridiculous to keep him out again that I almost want to see that. Either way they ruined the fun of the hall pretty much forever. Not sure how it cleans up the taint.

He could always accept the honor (Via cam) but decline to be there because he's working on his UC Team.
