Random Thoughts

Man, I see all my friends getting parties and dinners for their birthdays and I don't want one every year, but every 2-3 would be nice. I think the last time we even did anything for my birthday was 5-10 years ago when we went camping as a small group. The nearest I've ever gotten to anything was kids staying at my wife's parents this year so we can clean and go out to eat (we didn't want to cook). That only even happened because we were both off for a week. Doesn't even need to be anything spectacular, a cook out and board games would be great. I guess that is what happens when you become parents, you are suddenly insignificant.

Do you guys miss my mantis picture?

Thought this was a sad picture. A young girl died here the other day in a terrible horse riding accident while she was training. Her friends from the Pony Club all turned out in their gear for her funeral yesterday. This picture was on the front page of the Irish Times.

I remember when a child died from cancer locally a few years ago. Her family requested a motorcycle escort to the gravesite. I participated and thought they might get maybe 100, but there was a Facebook event page. The number hit 100 in a few days. On the day of the funeral, bikes went from curb to curb for three city blocks with three city motorcycle units leading the way. I will do another ride like that in a heartbeat. I want to do a patriot guard escort mission at some point also.

Rode 10 miles total on my bike today. 8.77 miles, which is a new long continuous ride for me. Then hooked up the bike trailer and pulled Elizabeth for 1.31 miles. Next week, when I do my park route, I’m going to hook onto a trail and try to stretch the miles to ten continuous.

In theory I could pay off my car by this time next year. If we take the money we are not taking in the advanced child tax credit and add a little from our tax return (pending we get what we normally get), I could pay off a majority of the 5k I will owe around next March. If we want, we could pay it off all together. Then I could start putting back the 350 a month I pay towards my next vehicle. Sooner or later, my wife’s car will be past the money to repair or put repair money towards new car if a major issue comes up. Trade in is already at 3k, retail is 5k.

Sound logic.

Do it. Dave Ramsey would approve.
