Report: Patriots have interest in Jason McCountry

I do not. I think he's incredibly overpaid and is poor in man coverage. Belichick doesn't see it that way if the reports are to be believed, but I don't know that he's any better than Logan Ryan. And I think Logan Ryan is pretty bad.

He would be another McC convert to safety, which I'd br OK with.

Jason is an average CB and certainly gets paid more than he's worth. Devin is as good a CB as Jason is...and BB made Devin a S bc of it. The only reason to want Jason is bc he fills a need for depth with a veteran but not at that money. Ryan is getting better. We still need a good pass rush to make our DBs effective.

Could it be that they're twins?

Meh Byron Maxwell is making 10m/year and he's about as average as it gets, with the rising cap and lack of decent CB's out there expect a lot of average CB's to be getting big deals in the future. 7m a year will be considered "cheap" for a guy of McCourtys caliber in a year or two imo.

Then we can pay it in a year or two.

This is the absolute key. This is money ball (in the true sense of the term) and that's where BB shines. When CB becomes an overvalued asset, he will pay less for guys that are serviceable and then go make his moves at positions that are undervalued with guys that are undervalued (e.g. RB) and that's what builds the strength of the team.
