screw you, Fisher. Rodney is 100% right

Bellichick is a strong coach, he would have made Manning a better QB and Kraft knew he needed to back the coach after the Parcels fiasco.

I agree with Rodney in that they would have won three. It is not difficult to say because those teams were defensive teams back them and the offense was a compliment to it. Not down playing Brady, he is the G.O.A.T..

I believe Manning would have been a different QB under Bill and Charlie.

Let me ask you. After watching Manning struggle to run Kubiak's offense this year and McCoy's offense in 2012, do you think he would have been able to do what Brady has done and run a different offensive game plan week to week? I have serious doubts. I also think playing in frigid Foxboro would have been difficult for him in Nov and Dec severely affecting both his stats and wins over the length of his career. And lastly, QBs that turn over the ball are not Bill's cup of tea which is why Bledsoe was not his guy from day one. Manning has the same inclinations to throw picks in big spots. In other words, Manning and Bill would have been oil and water much in the way Kubiak and Manning are right now. JMO. I don't see any rings much less 3.

NO. Why? He is not Tom Brady.

See Bill Belichick is not looking for Lawrence Taylor, or Randy Moss, Or Mark Bravado. No he is looking to see what you do well and use that to his teams advantage. Dungy actually did this but Polian sucks (off topic but needed to be said). I believe Bill would have won with Manning because Bill would have worked on the flaws without fear of pissing off the Manning Family. Bill would have been in the meeting with Peyton and pointed out mistakes and not ball washed him forcing Pey Pey to get better.

Peyton is not as good as Tom, very, very few are, BUT he is good enough if placed within a system designed to work his skills, to win a three SuperBowls.

remember the Patriots missed the playoffs twice since Mo Lewis freed the Gimp on the league and both time they were tied for division champs but lost out on tie breakers, only once with Tom in '02. I think we forget how good the team was around Tom because he is special.

You can do that at every position other than QB. Bill learned this in Cleveland with Kosar who he benched and then Testaverde the turnover machine and then Bledsoe who he sent to a division rival when Brady stepped on the field. Those early teams were special as it takes special teams to win that many SBs but even moreso a special QB. Manning has never been THAT guy.

maybe in the playoffs he wasn't but Manning was during the regular season, I think hate of the man is blinding the reality he is a top 10 all time QB.

We are talking SB wins of which you said he would have won 3 with Bill. No one is arguing he is a top 10 QB all time.

Big Ben has multiple Super Bowls.

Eli has multiple Super Bowls.

Aikman has three Super Bowls.

I think a better defense and a smarter coach would have given Peyton a chance to win at least one more. He has his faults, but there are plenty of meh QBs (much worse than him) who've won a Super Bowl.

Peyton had top 5 defenses in Indy during his prime. He also had a top 5 defense and run game in 2012 in Denver. In reality, he has had MUCH better teams especially offensively than the QBs you listed and Dungy will be in the HoF most likely. This idea that his teams were lacking is a total myth. If you look at the majority of his playoff losses it is from the offense failing to produce as it had done in the regular season. And Manning failing in the clutch unlike Eli, Aikman and Ben.

so you are saying you can not replace one top 10 qb with an other and still win? That tom is that much ahead of manning that manning could not win with the patriots/

btw, the colts win 3 with Brady and it is fun to discuss this topic but I feel dirty taking Manning's side.

Yes. Being a top 10 player does not mean you are able to harness your best ball when the stage is the biggest. Sports are littered with such examples of players with a ton of talent unable to produce on the big stage. It is what separates from the good from the great. And is why Aaron Rodgers said this past week "You earn your paycheck in the regular season and you create your legacy in the playoffs."

And to suggest a dynastic run would be achieved just the same by subbing out the toughest, most cerebral position in all of sports that also controls the outcome of the game the most is just silly. Fun I suppose for talking heads like Rodney who are looking for eyeballs and clicks but not reality.

Aikman had the best Offense of that group. that line with a running back and Irving and harper - Aikman was blessed.

Bledsoe gets a bad rap, he was supposed to be what Tom became.

BUT, I always have a big Butt..

Drew came into a shitstorm and remained a company guy while playing some very good QB, looking back he seems less because Tom did more with the same guys, but no one is Tom.

God Bless Tom Brady's replacement, he will never be good enough no matter what he does. and every QB in the Future of the team has a standard that is almost unreachable to strive for.

We are blessed and I think we should not compare others to Tom, only a handful in history can.

I start out comparing every new QB with Eason, and then let them convince me otherwise. :coffee:

And Manning? With Faulk, Edgerrin James, Harrison, Wayne, Clark? And an offensive line littered with number one picks?

comparable but Dallas was better and imagine if the white house didn't exist!!

Colts oline was not all that, if the were would Manning had thrown them under the bus so often?

LOL. Yes, Manning does hate his Olines. :thwak:

I don't think you can necessarily sub in any top QB with a top HC and get SBs. PM's strengths are also weaknesses, ones BB couldn't change. IE team oriented-ness, adaptability, leadership, etc. Maybe this is why Jimmy J said BB would trade PM for TB.

I believe it's very telling that PM, when he had a chance to pick from many HCs and teams and defenses picked the place that would allow him to dictate things instead of the best defense/HC. That type of thing wouldn't fly with BB (a player dictating a system).

The Colts defense sucked ass then...and sucks ass now. I don't care how many probowlers they had back then. Average at best.

If Manning played for BB a major difference would be the post-game pressers. Manning would say, "I have to throw a better ball" instead of "The DB beat the WR to the ball."

Trent Dilfer, Jeff Hostetler, and Jim McMahon dislike this post.
