Colts fans who post here:

Why do you give a crap about what some or possibly many Patriots fans think about your former head coach?

This is not intended to be a thread where we discuss whether Dungy is a phony, etc.

As some have observed, we've covered that. We need to preserve cyberspace for the other weighty issues being considered over the internet. So please, no more discussion in this particular thread over that important issue.

Now I cared about what people were saying about BB during SpyGate because they were saying implied or stated that BB's conduct meant that the Lombardis were tarnished, and that ridiculous claim distrubed me. It went beyond BB's personality and to the team's accomplishments, and that bothered me on some level.

But I never cared one bit if people said BB was a bad guy because he didn't shake hands nicely or whatever nonsense people focused on about his personality. It reminds me of idiot Yankee fans commening on Papelbon's intelligence level -- as if they have a clue about how smart he is and as if it matters. Frankly, I don't care if BB is a nice or Paps is smart; I care about whether they can do their jobs effectively and cause my team to win.

Back to Douche Dungy, I know why I talk about it and argue with them. I enjoy ripping Dungy. I enjoy pointing out how the ONLY way to view Dungy as a good guy is to put on Colts colored glasses. But I'm more than a little bit twisted.

So back to the Colts fans: Why do you care what some or even many Pats fans think about your dickwad of an ex-coach?

as a Pats fan I would be pissed if every time I mentioned BB someone would talk about spygate so I guess I can understand the need for Colts fans to protect the legacy of Dungy Like I as a Patriots fan want to protect the legacy of Bill.

reverse the fields and see how you would handle it

I use spygate but I am sure opposing fans have other topics they could substitute for spygate if we asked them to, and I clearly am not

As I wrote, I wouldn't give a rat's ass if Colts fans continually wrote that BB is a bad human because he is rude, abrupt or whatever the morons in the media or in rival fan bases sometimes write and say about him. I could care less about their view of his personality.

SpyGate is different because it goes beyond BB and instead goes to the team's accomplishments. That Dungy is a sanctimonious vagina has nothing to do with the Colts' accomplishments.

And you are clearly not...WHAT???

(Don't worry folks he's fine. Passed out in the middle of the post and hit his head on the send button)

Cheers, BostonTim {edit - I get it now but I feel like I need to leave this up her anyway)

true who cares what BB's personal life is about

but I will say the Colts Championship was not tarnished by the actions of one Tony Dungy while in the eyes of SF87 and others haters the Patriots 3 titles were tarnished by BB pushing the limits...

look at it from the eyes of an impartial fan of the NFL not the two teams, I am sure the spygate stuff effects the image of the Pats much more negatively than the holy-roller bible thumping Dungy does the Colts

sure the Dungy is an ass and speaks his mind but BB talked up the Stillers CB and has made references to other things after games that are unwarranted based on the idea that Dungy should have said "no comment" that you believe in...it goes both ways BB just says it in a different style.

You are missing the point.

I am not suggesting that BB or Dungy should never mention anything about another team. Talking a little trash about that idiot Steelers CB or the idiot Eagles WR is different in kind than talking about another member of the coaching fraternity who got his hand caught in the cookie jar.

I see a huge difference in crapping on another coach in that situation. I understand the connection you are making, but it misses the fundamental point about why I thought Dungy speaking out when he did was so awful.....coach on coach....

Darryl, I can assure you that your opinion of Coach Dungy is not keeping me awake at night.

I respond to those threads for the same reason I do any thread on this forum. To have a discussion. Of course I always end up realizing about half way through how there is no actual discussion, and just a bunch of people talking past each other.

But then, this is the internet, and no one ever listens to each other.

So why no Wade Phillips hate?
Make no mistake, there IS Wade Phillips hate.

The differences:

- there are no Cowboys fan regulars here to discuss it with

- the Cowboys are not a rival so everything about them is less interesting or noteworthy

- the KEY ONE: Phillips doesn't pretend to be a compassionate, understanding, religious man...

And to be clear, I had no illusion about you or anyone losing sleep over this.

That said, if you or any other Colts fan continually wrote about BB being a bad person, I wouldn't give a damn or respond.

That dude from BJ and the Bear has been in a bunch of SciFi original movies lately. That's kind of weird.

I disagree that the only way to view Dungy as a good guy is through Colts colored glasses. At least you qualified it by admitting you're twisted. :)

I would say that the ONLY way to NOT view Dungy as a good guy is to put on Patriots colored glasses. That's because as a Pats fan I don't hate him half as much as I did when he was coaching our rivals. In fact I wish him well in his post football endeavors. I can't help but respect a guy who could walk away like that at the pinnacle of his career... especially in such a high profile and ultra competitive field.

I remember being shocked when Barry Sanders retired early. After all, he almost certainly would have owned the all time rushing record had he continued to play. I guess I was just so used to watching most of these guys go until they can't play anymore (and have to be dragged kicking and screaming off the field), I think it seemed strange to me that he could just walk away like that.

Plus, in Dungy's case, I think with the success and high profile position comes a certain degree of access and influence. While I may not agree with his views on everything, I can't fault him for wielding that influence to try to advance the things he believes in so passionately. Which of us, given such a huge platform and embracing such lofty ideals, wouldn't use it to try to make a difference in the world? I think most would be addicted to being in the spotlight and find it well near impossible to give up. Dungy walked away from THAT part too.

So kudos to him from this Pats fan. IMO he's probably one of the few human beings at that level with any kind of balance in his life.

Are you kidding? In most circles anytime BB is talked about on a board, spygate is mentioned, but this is a different thing here, this is just about not liking dungy and the way he is, not for a particular incident he was involved in.

Colt fans bring up Spygate?

or is it little trolling turds their daddy should have flushed that bring it up?

I dislike Dungy based on him being a Colts HC, like I dislike Bowman with a Canadians, shula with the Dolphins, Martin with the yankee, Cunningham with the 76ers

that hate will last because of him being our Rival

I think Dungy was referring to the media blowing spygate out of proportion.

Yeah, that's right. I said it.
As my Grandfather often said, everyone is entitled to their own incorrect opinion.

I'm not going to repeat why I think you are wrong given the great trauma repetitive threads cause.

Don't tell anyone, but the reason Tmack and myself post on this subject, is actually because we are spies sent here by Bill Polian. We were given orders to use subliminal messages to covert Patriot Nation over to the side of the good guys.

When we eventually brainwash you, essentially the war will be over and we can go home.

But don't tell anyone, I don't want to blow our cover.

Yeah I have seen colt fans bring up spygate. Of course, that goes without saying. Why wouldnt they, I know I would. Its basically the last line of defense when you are kicking the crap out of them in the Brady vs Manning argument.....Well I umm...err...Brady cheated. WHAAAAAAA!
