Beer will always be currency.

I'm not kidding.

I've seen more than one "real" survival guide talk about having beer to survive various "disaster" scenarios.

  • Water may be in short supply and beer doesn't go rank like water can.
  • Beer is "liquid bread" and for much of civilization formed a significant portion of the daily caloric intake of the average man/woman/child
  • If you want to "hire" someone to do anything, if you have beer, that might be more effective than anything else you might have.

This is but one reason that I maintain a Strategic Alcohol Reserve®
 
Over centuries, beer has been used as a water substitute when clean water is unavailable. Prohibition in the early 20th century was a partial fallout from this trend. Too many men were drinking all day, every day.

Hmmm ... the Cubs ousted the Cardinals from the MLB playoffs.

At 97-65, the Cubs now have the best regular season record of all the remaining teams in the MLB post season.

Would the Cubs winning the World Series qualify as a history-changing event, worthy of a Lunar Tetrad? :huh:
