Hey, WVU alumni here

I know some mocks have the Patriots thinking about taking Tavon Austin at receiver, just wanted to pass this new highlight video along to you guys to take a look.

A big fan of Tom Brady and Wes Welker.

In 2011, Robert Kraft was on the WVU Sidelines when we played LSU.

In 2012, WVU head coach, Dana Holgorsen, was on the sidelines for one of your games.

Would love to see Tavon on your team and see him play with Brady/Welker and for Bill Belichick

edit. Since I have no posts it won't let me put a link on here to youtube, I'd love for somebody to post the link (YouTube search: Tavon Austin Only One) so I could see some of your reactions to the video

Thanks!

Good luck next season!

No offense to him at all, he looks like a great talent, but if we resign welker I just do not see a place for him on the outside at 5'8 170

Incredible ability to make people miss in space.

Well un-like you that video gave me a little goalpost in my pants

He fits BB type of player. Very fast & can play many positions on offense. HE is just to skinny . I don't think he could handle the hits he take in this offense.

Every team can use a play maker & Austin is legit.

Question:
Who do you like more, Adrian Peterson or C J Spiller?

I'll bet 100% choose Peterson. I would too. But

CJ Spiller's last 396 touches went for 2,533 yards and 14 TDs compared to Peterson’s last 388 that went for 2,314 yards and 13 TDs.

Austin is better than Spiller.
Tavon Austin has no injury history either so don't look at his size and automatically say no. (He did hurt a pinkie in 2010)

Get some Deer Antler in him and he will be good to go

He is a early favorite for the pats to pick. Lets see if he blows BB away with his football IQ. That what sold Him on Mccoutry .

I have seen time and time again guys that size go to the NFL and not be able to take the pounding. I watched the ravens flat out man handle us off the line last year, sorry just not what I think we need, especially if welker is back.

If we're looking to part with Welker, I'd take this guy in a heartbeat.

Is he tough enough to play in the NFL, though? And how does the quickness in that video translate when playing against an NFL secondary?

WE all know BB likes the small WR for his offense. I could see him used a lot on special teams. Can he be BB first WR since Branch to be drafted. TO Learn and play well in BB offense.

A first rounder to be on special teams? 5'7 170, he will be dead in a year.

It was just a ideal. Denver trindon holiday is 5'5 169 he had a nasty 2 TD game against the Ravens. He is smaller then Austin.

Couldn't judge his hands very well from that video, definately looked like he didn't want to get hit (got out of bounds in a hurry, frequently). Didn't like that high step thingy in the middle of a run - slowed down a lot and gave up yards. Looks small but solid. Interesting. Not totally sold by video, but will tend to go with Chevss's instincts.

Thanks for the Vid, TA. :Lwelcome:

Cheers, BostonTim

I'm with you on the "high step thingy". But in his defense, after almost every TD on that video, the first thing he does is flip the ball to the nearest official. Not very atypical of what one would call a "hot dog".

Also, I watched a couple of interviews with him on youtube and he appears to be very grounded. You can only take away so much from the above mentioned things but my first impression all things considered would lean towards good character guy.

Wouldn't shock me if he was on the Pats' radar but let's be honest. Trying to predict what the Pats might do on draft day is similar to buying a lottery ticket in hopes of winning millions. Success is a rarity.
