If you have older parents (not elderly) who could be in good health, I would suggest that you have them write down every monthly bill, how they pay it, also every income.
I say this because my dad has been in the hospital since the weekend before last due to a severe inner ear infection. Luckily he has very few bills and is somewhat organized so paying them is easy.
I will be getting set up to be able to do things financially after he is back home and better. At least I don't have to worry about how to pay his bills unlike my mom. I don't have exactly the best relationship with either but honestly with my dad, there is no one else to do this stuff. Same with my mom but she is broke and I have no idea where she banks, what bills, etc. Then there is the issue of my sister (can live on her own but can't handle finances) that lives with her. If an issue comes up where they can't live together, no idea what I'm going to do honestly. She doesn't get that much a month from social security (ssi) and I don't know where she would live because we don't have the room either.
