The 2023 Mock Draft Thread

Him and Strange are of the SAME kind of mold...
I don't think so. While he has good technique, Mauch is much more of a mauler. Strange has a great motor, but is more of a technician. There was also no question that Strange was a guard. Mauch may not be able to be an OT at the NFL level. Which leads to the question: if it turns out that he's not an OT, what do we do with him? Our guards are pretty, pretty good.

If he's in the the 2nd or 3rd, it's a no brainer...but, it all depends on how the draft unfolds. I personally wouldn't pick him in the 1st. But, he's pretty good though.

Onwenu would be good at tackle...

BB was purposeful when he said Reiff had played OG well in the past.
RG Reiff; RT Onwenu. I can see that as long as Onwenu is still good outside.

I'd take that draft

Cynthia Frelund's 1st round mock

Pick 14
New England Patriots
Devon Witherspoon
Illinois · CB · Senior

It’s highly unlikely Witherspoon lasts until No. 14 overall, but if he's still on the board, the Pats jump at the opportunity to team my top-rated CB with Jonathan Jones and Jack Jones. Witherspoon ranks first for me in zone and man-heavy schemes; in other words, he’s the least system-dependent corner in this class, per my projections.

In my many years as a draft nut, I don't think that I've seen a year with so many variables on player grading as this year.
In the case of tackles, only Johnson seems to be a consensus legit LT. All the others seem to be rated as, he's a zone blocking LT, no he's a RT, no he's and OG.
It will be interesting to see how these player are actually drafted. By this time I have usually given my ❤ away to a player that the Patriots must have. Not this year, there are many that I like but no one that I love.

You should watch some tape on Witherspoon. He plays with fire, hits a ton and looks like he loves it.

Just like being with her (Cynthia) that long, he's (Devon) going early. :coffee:

Jokes, you have to learn how to breathe right to last long... :coffee: :coffee:

Witherspoon is the best corner in the class. If he's there at 14, you have to take him, and work on tackle later.
