Marechiari is a little town in Naples. Lyrics Suggest (Had to look it up, of course) that when the moon is out in Marechiari, even the fish are making love. Have three of his Albums, love them all, including

My attorney friend Saul Fatles gifted me the Neapolitan Album in the Mid Eighties, when we had lunch at the Bar at Locke-Ober almost every day, and I was hooked

Thus spake TipRoast

One of my favorite pieces. The ascendinding musical nature and bold heroic climaxes of Thos piece are brilliant and move this guys soul in a big way.

We had a music teacher in gloucester who was a nomad for the 12 grades traveling every day to a different venue. She introduced us to Appalachian Springtime and Fanfare for the Common Man I believe in my fifth or sixth grade. I imagine, but don't recall that we heard excerpts. I doubt that happens much these days. But I digress.

I do remember I liked it and have enjoyed the great American composer, Aaron Copeland pretty much since. I always saw him as a joyful composer and here he conducts the NY Philharmonic in "El Salon Mexico", named for the legendary (so they say) Mexico City Dancehall of the same name. It incorporates themes from several Mexican Folk tunes. Love Copelands joyous conducting and the Orchestra truly appears to be having a good time.

Title: Trumpet Concerto in E flat

This kind of music always sounds good, but it really suits the holiday season, I think.

Another Alison Balsom (on Baroque Trumpet)

Whenever I'm listening to classical music on the radio and I hear a piece I don't recognize that sounds like Bach, but not as good, I think "Oh, it must be Telemann."

But just because he's not Bach doesn't mean he's bad. And this piece is evidence of that - thanks for posting it.

Those of us who dwell in the basement of this wonderful little corner of the internet would understand a little bit about the brilliance my chosen loved ones invariably deliver pretty much every day.

One of them, the most beautiful in body, soul, heart and mind dropped this with the words, "My god I'm in love".

Us being us I rolled my eyes and said, "Again? I love you".

This really is spectacular.

Enjoy.
