The coaching staff

I love these coaching signings, but their impact may be limited unless Kraft and the front office adjust their approach. If not All they will be doing is polishing a 💩

Per NFL.com:

"COACHING NEWS

  • Cornerbacks coach Mike Pellegrino, who has been with the Patriots since he began as a football operations intern in 2015, will not return to the team, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported."

“Wes Welker, who coached receivers in San Francisco (2019-21) and Miami (2022-24), is among the options the Patriots have considered, according to league sources. Welker's coaching career began in Houston under Bill O'Brien in 2017, when Vrabel was defensive coordinator.”

If he's genuinely a good coach, get him in here. He was a superb player for us back in the day. He gets lacerated for a dropped catch, but he was brilliant most of the time.

Having ex-players here, of course, does not guarantee success, as we've seen with Mayo, Hightower and Brown. And being a good ex-player can mask objectivity from management and ownership and hand them opportunities they might not deserve on the face of it.

But if those players are proven, and Vrabel is and I think Wes is, then bring them in.

Is he any good as a receivers coach?
