The Golf thread

Playing nine holes this afternoon with my beautiful wife and two other couples. Will be the first time I’ve played since last season and the first thing I’ve done involving twisting of my body since the open heart. I’m going to tee every shot up to make sure I don’t jar my chest, but I’m really looking forward to it.

And the six of us are headed over to Lake St. Clair for dinner on the water afterwards.

77 and sunny today. I’m ridiculously giddy.🤓
You earned this my friend, enjoy it.

Played my first 18 of the year. It started out good and ended not so good. I shot a 50 on the front and knew that coveted 99 was within reach.

Then hole 12 came around and I hit my first shot in the water. Took a drop and hit the next shot out of bounds and miraculously finished with a 9. I rallied with a par on the next hole and added another one.

On hole 17, tragedy struck. It was probably one of my most boneheaded moments. I lined up with my feet outside of the tee box markers. I had a good drive, the only problem is my driver hit the marker on the way through and snapped the shaft off at the head. The ball still landed in the fairway about 80 yards from the pin. I ended the day with a bogey and then a double bogey on the last hole. I was still kind of bummed about my driver and almost forgot to even add up my score. I shouldn't have. I shot a 50 on the back for an even 100. If the golf gods were going to take my driver from me, the least they could have done was give me one extra stroke. 😂

I'm sorry but laughed about your swing with your driver. Maybe it was the way you worded it but I couldn't help myself. I know that losing a driver, as they are expensive, is a serious matter.
I just finished 18 on a beautiful evening. Once again I was satisfied with every aspect of my game, except putting. This is a cruel game when you watch a very well lined up putt, with a perfect stroke, rim around and not fall, several times in one round.:banghead:

You did what?!?!?!

I fixed my driver for about 70% of my drives yesterday. Had a 310 yard drive, my longest of the season. Slight slope helped a little.
Finished with an 84. Definitely one of my good days.
I had a 310 yard drive but I hit it twice.

Just got back from range with sons. Went well. Ready to hit course, likely this week
we have a practice net in the yard and my younger son can slice a drive like you wouldn’t believe.. except we’ve all been there. Missed the net and hit a window on my shed. Ouch

Be careful you don't lock yourself in your shed. That happens sometimes.:cool1:

Just dropped the remnants of my driver off at the golf shop. My own stupidity is going to set me back $100. Still way cheaper than even a used driver of the same quality. It's supposed to be ready on Thursday so I'll have it in time to get one more practice round in before the tournament this weekend. 🤘

I'm off in a couple of minutes to play a round. I'll be careful not line up outside the tee box. I love my driver.
Glad to hear that yours can be repaired.

And. We're. Back!! I got my driver back yesterday and to my surprise it was $20 less than what they had originally told me. On the bad side, I don't think I'm going to get a chance to use it before the scramble tomorrow. The course is closing at 5:00 to prepare for the weekend. I keep seeing the past memories from this tournament pop up on my Facebook memories and it's got me really excited to get out there. 🤘⛳🍺🏌️

just got back from 9 holes, first time on a course this year.
I believe I posted earlier that 2 out of 4 parts of my game will work and other 2 won't. more like 2 good (driving, putting) 1 so-so but for me getting better (irons) and 1 butt-ugly (chipping). if I could have chipped to save my life today I would be on here telling you about what a great round I had. still had fun and great to get out on the course (I don't take this stuff too seriously.... no one is paying me to lose golf balls :-) ) but I can practice chipping in my back yard (and I do) so there's no excuse for that to be so bad.
I used bump-and-run tactics where I could to minimize the use of chipping

had some really good drives I was happy with. don't know the distance, just going on the "oh cool" factor when you hit it and you like what you see
