The Golf thread

I belong to a ladies 9 hole league we play Thursday evenings. Our first night was last night played a scramble we shot a 41 2 over par so I’m guessing that will be my best round of the year for 9. I hadn’t pick up a club since last season, sometimes no expectations is a better strategy ….

I had a very good 6 holes yesterday. Three pars and three bogies but one of the pars missed being a birdie by 1/2 inch and one of the bogies was 1/4 inch from being a par.
Then came the 7th hole. Two in water and my rage took over giving me an 8. This ruined my round. But, after I calmed down, I thought about how great it was just being out there.
Golf is hard.

I decided to skip my usual Monday run and go out and play my first 9 holes of the year in preparation for the tournament at the end of the month since my weekends seem to be mission impossible as far as getting any golf in. I didn't get to the course until 5:45 and figured I would pretty much have it to myself. Unfortunately there were three groups backed up on the first tee box. I decided to stick it out and wait. My first tee shot was about as bad as expected. I topped it and left a crater about six inches in front of the tee. I decided to tee another one up and absolutely crushed it right down the middle of the fairway. I don't know if it's the extra muscle that I have put on over the winter or if my swing has changed but my driver just sounded different. In a good way. I finished up with a 48 which if you're keeping track at home, is really good for me. That ties my best 9 holes all last season. I don't know how many years in a row I have said this but I think this year is the year that I finally break 100. :ROFLMAO:

Not sure what I was thinking. Beautiful day (gorgeous actually) here is SE Michigan. Played 18 with my son Ethan at the local muni. Shot 90 from the white tees. He kicked my ass. I am down at least 2 clubs distance wise. The neuropathy in my feet is killing me. I am thoroughly exhausted.

I could not be happier. Life is good.

You did what???
It was only a couple of weeks ago that you were managing to walk 1.5 miles.
Now you are playing 18 holes of golf.
Oh, and you shot a 90 :lecture:
You should be happy. I'm happy for you.

But don't complain about shooting 90 from the whites.

We rode. There is NO WAY I could walk 9 never mind 18. I couldn't be happier. I am sore as f*ck all over. My hands hurt. My feet are swollen and hurt. My armpits hurt (no idea). I am so spoiled. I definitely realize how lucky I am to be out there today. I had a couple of Shane Lowry slam dunk putts that would have gone 12 feet past if not for the hole being in the way.

Your body has been through a lot so all those aches and pains are to be expected.
After having 2 surgeries this winter, the first time out my body ached everywhere. But in a couple days I felt better and went out and punished myself all over again.
But hell yes, it was worth it.

I appreciate your golf posts! They keep me thinking the right way.

I'm regripping my clubs this week. It's been 20 years, I probably could have gotten another 10 but what the hell :)
New grips are a way to have your clubs feel brand new. I had mine done about 5 years ago.
Then this past year I had my putter regripped. I had debated about getting a new putter but I just couldn't do it. It was like getting rid of a pair of old comfortable slippers.
The new grip made the old girl feel brand new.

Today is the 1st round of the PGA tournament, the 2nd major of the year.
I thought this was the one major that the LIV traitors weren't allowed to play.
But, I was wrong. They are playing. I just hope that one of them do not win it.

I could be wrong but I'm guessing a lot of them have exemptions for winning other events.

is it just LIV guys that have won majors pre LIV ? I don't claim to know all the LIV guys but Bryson, Rahm, Kepka and that old useless POS Mickleson would fit that description.

lots of "who dats" on top of leaderboard after yesterday. lets see how today shakes out and who makes the cut. doesn't look like Spieth will get the career grand slam (or win a tournament) anytime soon.
