The Golf thread

Scottie is 3 up going into the final day. Some of the players, including Scottie and Lowery, have complained about mud.
The course looks beautiful but it had rained there quite a bit before the tournament started. Just below the surface it is wet and when the all lands on the fairway it picks up mud. It's much harder to control the shot with mud on the ball.
Some of the players have ask the PGA to allow marking and picking up the ball to wipe the mud off and then replace it at the exact spot. The PGA has refused to make that adjustment to the rules, which I think is wrong on the part of the PGA.

I get the requests to lift, clean and place. I don't get the whining in the media. They asked, they were refused, move on. It is the same for everyone. These guys are so good and so spoiled. Remember: they NEVER lose a ball the next time you are 2 feet into the rough and can't find your ball.

I never thought of it that way. Screw them!
Golf is hard though.

The best of the LIV players collapse again, as they did in the Masters.
Maybe the LIV format does not have the intense pressure that a PGA tournament has.
I'm not saying that they are not mentally tough. But you need to be exposed to that pressure in order to keep that toughness.
Golf is hard.

Could be they are not mentally prepared for 72 holes of golf.

Doucheambow made it to a playoff at Augusta but that was after opening the door for Rory to get back in, and Rahm collapsed like Norman at the Masters yesterday.

Plus 5 on the last 3 holes was duffer level.

My game and confidence came crashing back to earth yesterday. I played 9 holes that barely resembled golf. Four lost balls within the first five holes. My speaker fell off of the cart and knocked a hole in my Sonic cup which then leaked all over me and some idiot kids teed off and almost hit me. I almost called it a day after 7 but stuck it out and managed a par on 8. Someone keeps saying that golf is hard. I disagree. Golf is dumb.

I am visiting my daughter in Potomac Md. There is a PGA Seniors tournament going on at the Congressional Country Club about 2 miles from where my daughter lives.
There is a 10 year waiting list for membership if you are interested. The membership cost is only $10,000. The initiation fee is $150,000 for a single $225,000 for a family.
But if that is too rich for you, two miles in the other direction is TPC Potomac.
Membership there is about the same. But the initiation fee is only $40,000. You will have to pay $15,000 to get on the wait list.

Alk that sounds like my normal round (minus the speaker and hole in cup).
I agree... I often wonder why I spend the time/money but when you hit a good shot, it's worth it.
I just need to make it "worth it" more often. one or two good shots a round is a little low :)

The Memorial is being played this week. After 2 rounds it's a very tight leaderboard. This is Jack Nicklaus' tournament being played in Ohio.
Also the U.S. Womans Open is being played in Wisconsin. Nellie Korda is in contention.

Going into the final day, Scottie is now the leader. He was 5 behind yesterday, but the leader Ben Griffin must have heard very large footsteps.
In other golf news, I will attempt break 90 again today. Golf is hard.

As a kid, I caddied for 5 summers. I couldn't have paid the rent on on a pack of gum.

I did as well back in Lowell at Mt. Pleasant Golf Club. Made more money washing clubs for the pro post-round(s) some days.
