The Golf thread

I did as well back in Lowell at Mt. Pleasant Golf Club. Made more money washing clubs for the pro post-round(s) some days.
Early sixties at Bass Rocks, Gloucester. By my third summer I was basically doing two 18's "double" (two bags) per day, 7 days per. between 120 to 150 a week. Pretty good actually for a high school summer job. 150 then would equate to appx 1500 now so I could actually be able to rent some gum. Sorry for the exageration.

I survived a long weekend of golf with 54 holes played. Saturday afternoon was a four man scramble. We won our flight no thanks to me. This golf tournament includes all the beer you can drink with your entry. Needless to say, my 21 year old nephew was in no shape to play the 2 man scramble on Sunday morning so I had to step up to the plate. I wasn't feeling the greatest myself but I made it through. My partner and I won our flight. I started feeling a change in my game after the front nine and actually started hitting some decent shots. Sunday afternoon was stroke play. I always play in this one even though I know there is no chance of me winning anything. I was playing very well (by my standards) and made it a point to not pay any attention to the score card. I was very confident that I finally hit that coveted 99 when I turned in the score card. But then the tournament director entered the score. 102 :cuss:I know it's going to happen but I always wanted it to be at this tournament.

You shot a 99, but they changed your score to 102? Am I missing something?

No, I really did shoot a 102 but 99 is the goal.
Ok. As dumb as this may sound to non-golfers, 102 isn't really all that bad for the weekend golfer.

The person who has a full time job and a family just can't put in the time it takes to be really good. Only roughly 15% of all "weekend" golfers break 100 on a consistent basis.
Golf is hard. :D

On the front 9 ? :coffee:

Today is day 3 of the Canadian Open and Rory did not make the cut. The leader is Cameron Champ who no one has heard anything from for the past 3 or 4 years. I know that he had injuries.

Next week- the US Open.!!!

Dudley DoRight is greeting players at the18th hole.

We are now in the 3rd playoff hole between Burns and Fox.
Burns just F'ed up. Fox just Fred up. Playoff hole #4 coming up.
Whoever wins the 51st State Open will be the guy who doesn't F up.

Edit: Fox got crafty and wins.

It was an exhibition of un-clutch putting during the playoff holes but nice 2nd shot by fox on the last one

Wake up!!! The US Open starts this morning. TV coverage is on USA Network starting today at 6:30AM.
Neither Danny Woodhead or Tony Romo qualified this year. I have my own match later this morning (no TV coverage) but plan to catch up when I get back.
