I've never been a big fan of Jazz. It's a bit too free form for me. My musical taste if fairly simplistic. Just give me a beginning, middle and end. With Jazz, I just never know where it's going.

The closest I came to appreciating it was taking a "History of Jazz" course in college.

Dave Brubeck was good. I'm not into the really abstract jazz but I liked him.

Good selections, Den. I've always liked Vince's work.

Here are a couple of other selections to help fill out the thread.

Manu Digango is an African saxophone player.

Ronnie Laws is an American saxophone player.

Jim Pepper was a Native American saxophone player and songwriter.

I listen to Witchi-Tai-To every Thanksgiving, and on other occasions when the mood strikes.

This version has Larry Coryell on guitar and Billy Cobham on drums.

The jazz group Oregon also does an excellent instrumental version of this song.

This one just has that amazing groove...

This is more of a blues track, but still one of my favorites...partly because I've been there when I was kid. Spent some time as a homeless family before we got it together...but some things you carry with you for life, buried deep, but still there.

I posted this before, but it's one of the most sublime jazz performances I know of.

Of course, I have to be Frank with you as well.

Den - Here's a Keith Jarrett piece you might like.

Jan Garbarek on sax plays very much in the style that Paul Desmond evoked when playing with Brubeck.

((( There once was a link here to the Keith Jarret performance of the song "Country" from the My Song album. But that's premium YouTube content now. )))

Edit (2022-09-28): Here's a version by someone else - it's not Keith and Jan, but it's pretty good.

I've been in a location the last couple of days where I can't view the vids posted, but I am glad people have been adding to it and can't wait to check out what others have put up! I'll be home tonight and will definately be viewing all the recommendations.

As far as more more Miles and Coltrane - do it up!

I've just scratched the surface of what I like, wanted to see if there were any other jazz enthusiasts among us - I definately will add some more as well.
