I have been very impressed with Quinnen Williams who is now one of the elite IDLs in the game after not looking all that early in
his pro career. I had hopes that he would be a bust, but.....nope. He's bona-fide and we can only hope our starting guards shook
some serious rust off last week because they both looked lost. I'm a big fan of Cole Strange, but he was awful against Miami and Onwenu
was far from himself as well. Let's call it a work in progress.
This brings me to Christian Barmore, who I thought might be a better pro than fellow Bama man Williams, but he hasn't been very
visible so far, not that he has been bad. Maybe it's that we've seen an unusual amount of quick passing versus our first two opponents
but that isn't really Zack's thing. If I were forced to pick what I think his thing actually is then I'd probably say running for his life. The guy can
scoot pretty good, but, much like Mac, he seems to get mooshed a lot when he does get hit. Some guys can slip hits and some can't. It's
not really a quantifiable thing.
I don't know what is going to happen in this game. No clue. I will say that I hate the matchup between our OL and their front right now. Ulbrich is
hyper-aggressive and I expect him to send blitzers from every angle at Mac, but if Q Williams doesn't get a half-dozen total hits and
sacks on our QB then I'll be shocked. He's just shredding whoever is in front of him, which will probably be Strange this week. Ugh. This
has a chance to be a character-building week for our embattled 2nd-year guy. Ready or not, here comes Q.
I'd feel better if we had our full Cornerback group ready to go, but that is not going to be the case. Still, it's Jets/Pats and that always gets
me fired up. We need to bring the heat at Zack this week and make him sweat. I want a more aggressive approach than we've seen over the
first two weeks against top-5 Offenses. The Jets are not close to being that. We need to start dictating, especially with a short-handed D backfield.
