Welp, it is back. PET scan shows lymphoma in bone and tissue again.

I will begin the stem cell replacement process almost immediately. It takes about a month to get things going.

Bone and tissue biopsies to confirm cancer is the same as before. It is possible but not likely that it’s another type.

8 to 12 weeks of chemo to try to eradicate it again. This will be a shorter but more harsh version not designed with my other organs’ protection in mind, but only to eradicate.

Sometime in late January or early February, I will go to the Karmanos Cancer Institute for about a month for the actual stem cell replacement process. This will include additional chemotherapy to wipe out my immune system. During this time, I will be in isolation and then they will reinsert my own cleansed stem cells.

Once complete, I’ll be released home but will remain in some form of isolation until my immune system comes back. I should be at home for about six months.

So next September, if all goes well, things should be back to normal.

I was planning on retiring soon anyway, so I’ll work with our financial advisor and my company’s HR to make the right moves. That said, I think sometime in the next week or two, I will work my last day.

I’m going to do my best to continue to live my life -as I did through the first round of the battle. I have a wonderfully loving and strong wife and family. I have been incredibly lucky to have lived a great life, so no matter what happens, God has been good to me. I am most concerned about my family.

I will fight this.

I will be around from time to time.
Kick it’s ass dew!

Fell in yard today
4 ribs. Small lung puncture. Internal bleeding. Hospital overnight at least. Long road ahead.

Cheers, BT
Damn. I feel for you, Tim. But I have a unique perspective. Get your ass out of that hospital ASAP. Healthy people move around outside of hospitals. Do everything you can to get out of the hospital as fast as you can. That is what we want for you.

That is a painful injury, I feel badly for you. That exact thing happened to my wife last year, in the same way. it was rough. It will heal just takes time. Hang in there man,

It's terrible the way a simple fall can wreak so much havoc. Not to take anything from BT's incident which is way more serious, it happened to me back at the start of July when I simply stumbled and fell on some concrete in our car park and put my left arm out to break the fall and busted my bloody wrist. Next thing I'm going under general anathestic to get it repaired and a plate and screws put in. And it's still not fully repaired, I'll be going to physio for a while to come. Basically, watch your step out there, especially this coming winter!

That is what most people would do to break a fall. Good night, nurse, hope the therapy helps you heal as good as new as you can.

Damn. THAT had to hurt. Still does, I imagine.
I hope it heals fast.

You know something? It didn't. I didn't think I broke it at all. I thought it was a bad sprain as it didn't feel broken. The hand was swollen and fingers black and blue but I broke my other wrist playing rugby before and this did not feel like that. So I waited a full day and went to the ER only when the swelling hadn't gone down, and on the first exam and X-ray, nothing seemed untoward. it was only when they put me through the CT scanner that it showed a part of the wrist bone had broken off and was misaligned and had to be screwed back into place.

Long story short, it was an awkward break and took 2 hours of surgery, and they had to do a bloody bone graft as well. The recovery has been a lot more painful. It still hurts, and I have numbness down one side of my thumb. Pain in the ass.
