Was listening Mike and Mike this morning coming to work. They were discussing the impact that Tigers long absence has had on teh PGA.

Mike Greenberg, a confessed Jets fan, said that the greatest NFL player, tom Brady, went down in week one. His going down did not have the same impact on the NFL as tigers absence has had on the PGA.

What he meant is that PAtriots fans still cheered for the Patriotsand the game attendance and TV rating did not change. However the drop off in teh PGA was much noticable without Tiger.

Agree? Disagee? Discuss? Ignore?

For the most part I agree. A key difference is the difference between individual and team sports. The NFL games are still going to be played, the Patriots will still play out their season. The vast majority of NFL fans still follow their team which is in the majority of cases a team other than the Patriots. The key place where Brady's absence was probably in the playoffs where Tom was often at his most magical. The absence of Tiger in tournaments to which he had committed caused a huge drop in TV ratings and in some cases a drop in the purses and number of spectators at the venue. This is my humble input on this issue.

Tiger's importance in the PGA is far greater than Brady's importance in the NFL. Mainly because, without Tiger, you have alot of stuffy white guys that few(if any) casual fans can relate to. Brady goes down, and you still have guys like Satan Manning, Sandy Vagina, Chunky McPuke, etc...

Teh PGA?

Sriously?

People watch that on teh TV? :confused: Why?

Well its not a good comparison, its two different sports. Golf is a individual sport that needs a star to keep going, the NFL is a team sport that has other stars to strive. While Bradys absence was huge for the football world, it cannot be compared to a sport like golf where every player is for himself.

so far in 2009, the PGA Tour w/o Tiger Woods has sported the following event winners:

Geoff Ogilvy :blink:
Pat Perez :huh:
Kenny Perry :rolleyes:
Nick Watney :spock::confused:
Dustin Johnson :shrug::spock::confused::shrug::spock::confused:

and yesterday's winner at Riveria CC, Phil Mickelson pussy --- golf's version of the luckiest Majors winner since the NFL's Big Ben Clankenstein ROFL

First Greenberg admitting that Brady is the greatest player in the NFL is something of note.

Yes, Tiger owns the PGA like no other player ever. He is coming back next week.:rockon:

And, after handling the f'ing snow this morning, how can anyone not be thinking about golf.

yeah he lost one so he is a bit off center now...I heard it was the real reason he has trouble with stairs

I'm working my ass off in PT and on my own,though the pain, for the sole purpose of being ready to reach into my bag, grab my balls, and drive ,chip, and putt them. Two more months of that shit and I better be ready.

I told my Physical Terrorist that my goal is that some day this spring I'll show up with a big bag of balls and start dring them into her car as payback.

speaking of watching golf on teh TV, has anyone noticed when they are (pardon the expression) broad:pcasting LPGA events they never show them wimminz bending over to retrieve their ball from the cup?

they always move/frame the TV shot so you are not seeing teh full bent-over booty especially from full-on (again, pardon the expression) behind :D

just an observation :thumb:

I'm watching the Maine Gazette for this story

I think that you have to subscribe to the premium channel for that. Although 1/2 of them I could miss.
