Trades

It's hard to understand why the Colts did not try and break the bank to get Joe Thomas.

Because Grigson believes skill players are more important. :coffee:

I am just happy Denver did not get him. Apparently it was close to happening. Their Oline is just as bad as Indy's.

I thought when the Seahawks got jimmy graham they would be balling. But that sure didn't go in their favor. So I feel the same way about Vernon. I still don't think it will matter. He will get shut down. Just like soft ass JT.

There was a lot of head scratching over the Graham trade. Seattle gave up a Pro Bowl center and a 1st round pick for a TE who can't/won't block and takes up a big chunk of their cap. He's had some impact on the offense, but not enough to justify the price and their line is not very good at this point. They're ranked 26th in passing and have given up 31 sacks. They're still running the ball, but Wilson scrambles account for 1/3 of their rushing offense.

Dumb move.

According to PFT, they were close but couldn't close the gap.

The Broncos were offering their 2017 first-rounder and their 2016 second to the Browns, but wanted Thomas and a 2016 third-rounder in exchange. The Browns came as close as offering Thomas and their 2016 fifth-rounder, but wouldn’t come any closer.

I had also heard that Denver couldn't figure out how to free up the cap space they would have needed.

Not legally, anyway.

Anybody that's paid attention to Seattle's offense the last couple years realized what a pointless move that was. You give up an All-Pro center for a guy that can't run block? It's worked out just about like I expected it would to this point.

It made alot more sense for Denver to go after him with their tiny little Manning window, assuming it isn't already closed.

The Colts can't afford to give away 1st rounders like they did with Trent Richardson. aot6600$yhbntgkskgb*nmfg..2)$cfs

Sorry. I laughed so hard at the Colts giving up a 1st for that dumpster fire, I hit my head on the keyboard.ROFL

Several of my friends that are big Saints fans were very happy with the trade to Seattle. Graham is more of a diva and is afraid to of contact.

The Pats cornered the market when it comes down to tight ends.

Tyler Eifert is pretty close to Gronk in production this year. Delanie Walker and Jordan Reed (Washington) aren't very far behind.

how is their blocking, Gronk Blocks well, I am not sure about these other guys.

I know Gronk blocks great.

But if I'm the opposing DC I'd have to think anytime I can get Gronk blocking as opposed to the absolute nightmare he presents running routes it's a win for me.

Blocking TEs aren't the hardest thing to come by, and you can probably get 85% of what Gronk provides in that department pretty easily. Matching his catch and yac is next to impossible.

I agree, BUT when comparing Gronk's stats one must take into account the amount of game sacrificed to protect Tom Brady, are the other TE's blocking the same % of times as Gronk?

or are the more like Jimmy Graham and basically a large slot WR?

umm no offense but Walker and Reed are nowhere close to Gronks production this year and Eifert gets the benefit of opposing defenses focusing on Green. Yes Gronk has TFB throwing to him but he's also always the oppositions top priority and he's still on pace for a career year.

Did Bradford turn that down? The idiocy of the people that play this sport is unbelievable.

He did apparently, his agent did would you believe according to that story!

So Bradford will be a FA after the 2015 season. Unbelievable. There are some real morons clearly in NFL team front offices.

Chip Kelly is in real danger of becoming a serious flop in pro Football.

actually the going rate for average QB's is still Drew Bledsoe's $100,000,000.00 contract. That deal was below market set by foolish men looking for a miracle.

Disagree, his blocking is part and parcel of the whole package he brings to the table. When Graham is on the field, the defender only has to worry about him releasing, and playing him as a receiver. When Gronk is on the field, if you play him as a receiver only, he'll truck you once, then Blount comes along and trucks you twice. You cheat up and he releases for a big gain. The D's job is way harder because he can do both. Graham is a weapon, but Gronk makes the whole offense better.
