Posted this in the aftermath thread but feel it deserves its own thread.

Normally a formality and not at all noteworthy but here we are.

And as we all know with Trump, since he said this in the early morning hours, it likely means he’ll contradict this by lunchtime...

checks time

Maybe sooner.

Yeah, anyone who thought he wouldn’t actually do this was either a supporter hoping he barricades himself to stay in office or someone who didn’t like him hoping to see him forcibly removed from the White House. Both those notions are dreams and in reality he knows after last night there is no fight left to fight.

Well, those that think that this is all one big sting operation and were still holding out hope that some eleventh hour development was going to appear and Trump would still be inaugurated on January 20th. That goes beyond believing that he’d barricade himself by brute force but that there would be some judicial action. Hell, Trump yesterday was saying that Pence could somehow throw out the results.

Still waiting for the conspiracy theories on January 20th that Trump is secretly still President.

It's funny.....this is a guy that vacillates on an hourly basis...lol, and yet still people hang on his every word. It's stunning, almost Pavlovian.

Mind you , I never thought for a moment that there wouldn't be a peaceful transition....but I still find it remarkable how every word he speaks is news, even though everyone knows that anything Trump says is subject to change at any moment.

If I thought he was going to peacefully turn over the keys, and I do, I would still think that. If I thought he was going to lock himself in the Oval Office and push the presidential desk against the door and say "I'm never leaving!", I would still think that.

Goes back to “if it bleeds (sometimes not literally), it leads”. If it leads, it is for sure going to generate ad revenue. For four years the media hasn’t had to do much work to get ad revenue on the web. Just mention trump and people are triggered. The media also knows their cash cow is going out to pasture so they are milking it for every dollar they can until then. In a month, late night and then will have less fuel for their fire with an all blue majority dc. No trump or even republicans to blame for things not getting done.

The word used wasn't peaceful. It was orderly.

ANd it's a little late for a peaceful transition. Plus he's the freakin'president. Why would you not pay attention to what he says. And while he is unstable, he has not vacillated. He has been consistent throughout that he will never concede, that he was robbed, that everyone who disagrees with him is corrupt and should be jailed, and that his supporters should show strength.

And plusTrump himself didn't say there would be an orderly transition. A staff member said so using phraseology that Trump would never use. If Trump says so himself, I'll believe he said it, but so far he himself has said nothing.

That never stopped the democrats from blaming republicans for all of their failures before, and it won't this time, either.

I am not sure I would use the word peaceful transition, that ship has sailed. I mean, he really didnt have a choice but to leave. I am not sure he was going to lock himself in the oval office, but trying to say that you knew Trump was going to do something the right way is silly at best.

Is your next post going to be that if they vote against a democrat bill, they are terrorists? :coffee:
Is your next post going to be that if the protesters assassinate Biden and Harris that you’ll fall all over yourself to make excuses for them?

But no, they were LITERALLY attempting to prevent the transition from happening, which was my point.

Besides moving into the Capitol building (helped by the police, apparently ), what else did they do to prevent the transition?

I keep seeing this false narrative , but please clarify.

Are we talking about what people did or what republicans did? Or what Trump did?

I’m talking about the members of Congress that voted against certifying the election.

I just read Pats line again and it sounded funny. What the hell did people do to prevent the transition besides taking over the capital building!?!!? lol....That seems like a lot. 😅
