Enjoy.
Nate Solder. Left tackle. He needs work on the edge rushers, it seems.

Is that supposed to be a highlight film of Solder? If it is, Brady is going to die. Like the music in the mallet video. Ras is a beast at takling.

I dunno. Seems to me the majority of those clips involved one on one battles with Aldon Smith who is projected as one of the premiere pass rushers from this draft. I don't know what Smith's numbers were for that game but he didn't get to the Colorado QB in those shots.
Solder, without ten years of positional growth, sort of looked like Matt Light does without help. I'd have rather seen a sampling of his run blocking as that seems to be the subject of most questions raised.

If he is going to the left tackle on this team, he will need more than run blocking. Maybe we should have taken the guy that kept beating him.popcorn

Solder gave up 1 sack for sure and another possible 1/2 sack.

He gave up quite a bit of pressure too. At some points he did well, although it seemed like when they wanted to get passed him, they didnt have much of an issue. I mean hey it could have been a bad game, but maybe thats not the best video to show highlights of.

didn't catch that sack but, I am in agreement that as a highlight film we all hope it wasn't his best body of work.

There are 2 videos above of Solder. The one shown in photo format and the link below it which is a diff one. In fact most draftees have 2 and the 2nd one is always a link because of space restrictions.

Love the RBs eve more. Ridley is not the plodder that people seem to think he is.

The Solder one isn't confidence inducing, but reading too much into one performance is dangerous. I specifically recall a vid of Cunningham last year where he looked completely clueless.

While I don't know the opposition quality and it cherry picks from several games, Carter's vid is promising. He shows excellent burst out of his stance and displays several difference push rush techniques. I could definitely see him developing into another TBC. Wish they showed some running plays as well.

Just watched Solder's Cal game. The first 4-5 plays were excellent, then he was toasted to the outside on B2B plays giving up a strip sack and an int when the QB was hit (he was holding on that play as well).

Looked bad on another outside rush and then let up a sack when he overplayed the outside and the guy cut under.

Run blocking was solid throughout, didn't see his man get off a block once.

All told, I'm not expected Vollmer's rookie year out of this kid. I'm starting to like the idea of re-signing Light more and more...

Solder needs work from looking at the Cal game. I'm afraid Light will be more valuable to another team than to us. We need him though.

I mean I am not dogging the kid solder. I have not seen what they have seen, obviously he was highly touted by others not just the pats. He I guess just looks a little show to react, I would assume that this can be fixed, just not sure he is the LT of this team day one like someone said in another thread. I would like him more at maybe RT for now and in spot play.

If anyone can turn Solder in to a player, it's Dante.

(sorry, that's as positive as I can be)

As for Vereen and Ridley...me likey. :)

Love the RBs, Vereen looks like a slimmer Ray Rice. If he can bulk up, I see him as a very solid all purpose RB.

I was expecting Ridley to be a brusing down-hill rusher, but he seems a lot more versatile than that. He actually reminds me of Jacob Hester, which is a pretty versatile FB for the Chargers. Pleasant surprise.

Ras-I Dowling seems like a very physical corner, which actually reminds me a lot of Leigh Bodden. That's very encouraging to see.

Ray Rice coming out of college: 5'8, #199. Vereen coming out of college: 5'10 #210. ;)

Highlight videos - they are like a spontaneous comment from a politician on the campaign trail.

Agreed.
None of us are fond of the videos available for Solder.

The others are for the masses here who want to see our guys show their wares for the first time or perhaps as a reminder. They're useful for that but no one takes a highlight video as a substitute for a body of work.

Well I wanted Aldon Smith. He just went too quick in the draft.

:)
