Week 13, Giants At Gillette, MNF

The Giants have already been eliminated from the playoffs.
Interesting to me that the NFL would schedule Pats-Giants on MNF.
It will be Maye's first time on national TV, not counting TNF on Amazon Prime.
Let's hope he has a good game for the nation to see.

I thought the week 5 game vs. Buffalo was on Sunday Night Football.

Sorry Chevvs but your details are wrong. This is his 3rd time on Prime time. He played Sunday night football against the Bills. Then Thursday night football against the Jets .

Yeah, my bad. You're right. I just don't consider Amazon Prime or Sunday night as prime time games, even though networks consider them as prime time.
I should have said MNF and left it at that.

Does anyone still continue the tradition of saying "New York Football Giants" like Berman and some others used to?

I still do sometimes, and it's a weird thing, but I lessens my hate for them a touch. Something about it is comforting, and I've kinda liked them ever since Bill shut down the K-Gun and LT won that one game. By himself. With one arm in a cast.

Which is weird. Realistically, what team should a Patriots fan have more reason to hate than the Giants? Yet I don't. I was upset about the 2007 loss, but I predicted that with a fierce certainty. I went to sleep before halftime of that game telling Mrs. Wanderer that it was over and they were losing. I've never seen it start to finish. I was more frustrated in 2011, which was a game they should have won.

But I can easily name half a dozen - probably at least ten - teams that I dislike more than the Giants. I have some respect for that team and franchise, and the connections with both Bills matter, too.

All that said, I'm looking forward to beating them by 43 points tonight...though expecting a win by a score or less, and losing isn't off the table as the Patriots limp into their bye with one eye on the Bills and Ravens and the other eye on the playoffs.

Yes, there are far more teams worthy of hate than the Giants. In no particular order: Jets, Dolphins, Colts, Ravens, Chiefs, Raiders.

I don't particular detest the Bills and Steelers, because other than the last few years when the Patriots were wandering in the wilderness, they have basically dominated those franchises.

I've never held any ill will toward the Giants and I rooted for them (strongly) in both of the Parcells SB's. 2007 was entirely on the Patriots and I'd argue that the 2011 Pats were so flawed, defensively, they had no real business even being in that SB. Pats still should have won both of those games but no beef with the Giants, as a result.

for karma sake..... "It's a Trap Game" !

I have to be honest, I have a not-so-good-feeling about this game. I've been wrong before but it kinda feels/smells like we are due for a loss and last weeks injuries showed that sooner or later the injury luck would also run out - and it did. I know we had lost Boutte and Stevenson for a few games but compared to most teams pats had been pretty lucky.
MNF and all the hoopla around Pats I would think Giants would/should be extra motivated to want to win this one. I hope Dart is a little too amped up and tosses some picks early as with Maye getting all the bouquets from the media I can see him and rest of Giants seeing this as a real prove-it game for them.
it's on the Pats to prove themselves.
Rams losing to Panthers shows that any-given-sunday/monday mantra is true.

Lazar's 3 keys to victory. Good read.

Despite their 2-10 record, we shouldn't sleep on the Giants, who have an interim head coach (Mike Kafka) and defensive coordinator (Charlie Bullen). The Giants are in this transition phase because they're failing to close out winnable games, with a league-high five losses after leading by double digits, tying an NFL record, including a 34-27 overtime loss to the Lions, in which they led 10-0, 17-7, and 27-17. The Giants have lost three consecutive one-score games to the Bears (24-20), Packers (27-20), and Lions (34-27 in OT). So, they've been competitive in recent weeks.

The Giants new-look coaching staff also makes them harder to prepare for, as each coach puts their own spin on things. For example, the Giants ran two separate trick plays for touchdowns against the Lions last week, while this is New York's first game with new defensive play-caller Charlie Bullen, so the Patriots will have to be prepared for anything this week. It also sounds like first-round QB Jaxson Dart will return from a concussion following a two-game absence, so that's another added wrinkle.

Let's break down the chess match between the Giants and Patriots at Gillette Stadium on Monday Night Football.

Offense Key: Attack the Giants Run Defense, Adjust to Changes Under Interim DC Charlie Bullen

The main reason the Giants have a losing record is that their defense, which they invested heavily in, has underperformed this season.

When I look at the Pats' remaining schedule and know deep down there is no reason they should not win out, I think of games like this one and the Bills-Dolphins....and Pats-Raiders and Pats-Steelers, especially the latter.

When I was growing up, all we got were the Giants on TV. I hated them then. I was a Browns fan. Even when the Patriots started the local Portland we station would broadcast the Giants game.
So yes the Giants and Jets are my 2 most hated teams. The rest of the hate list changes from time to time, but the Jets and Giants never change.
