Always thrilled to see a Troy Brown shout out. That guy did it all. I remember on Sound FX a remark being made during one game against the Rams when Troy was playing DB and a Ram seated on the bench marveled to the guy seated next to him, "That's Troy Brown out there, dude!" I too continue to marvel at his amazing versatility, his humility, long catches, flea flicker QB, returner and all the rest of it. My all time fave Patriot. :bow:
 
Lucky win.

Positives: squeaked out a 29 point win, somehow. So much tension in that game.

Negatives: where to start?

  • Maye had a couple of incompletions
  • the RBs didn't score on every play
  • Christian Gonzalez let Mc Millan catch a pass or two
  • the Panthers scored TWICE
  • Marcus Jones was awful on that second punt return. Who lets a Punter tackle him?
  • Coaching abysmal in all three phases, given we didn't score on every possession.

Fire everyone.

In all seriousness, it was an encouraging win. There's a clear improvement in the standard of coaching this year, and some obvious improvements in play (pass protection, for example).

The team is headed in the right direction, but with lots to work on. That bad first quarter will be a problem against the better teams. The influence of Mc Daniels and his staff is clear on Maye; he's making better decisions and "taking what's there", with an evident improvement from the start of the season.

He hasn't been as much a part of the gameplan yet as far as being a target, but he's found ways to contribute when he's out there, just not as obvious as if he was catching the ball or being targeted. I wonder if he is humble enough not to feel bad that his production is down.

All receivers want to have good stats. But I'm sure that he feels good about the win. One thing about football, all it takes is one injury then your number gets called.

maybe this is the planets new version of a "Karma Thread". if we win we excuse it away and find problems (like my wife when I do any home project :coffee: )

Great win, great progress and now we're on to Buffalo.

I don't expect a win but I expect to scare the hell out of them.

2 probable losses, both to Buffalo
5 probable wins, New Orleans, Tenn., Jets X 2, Miami
6 toss-ups, Cleveland, Atlanta, T.B. (away), Cincy (away), Giants and Baltimore (away). 6/2=3

I'd be very happy with 10 wins this year.
 
Palate cleanser. I'll take it.

Drake Maye has the best completion percentage in the NFL of anyone with more than 6 passing attempts. Anyone call that?

It's challenging to project so far out, given injuries, momentum, etc. So just looking at the next 5 games, I see:

@Bills- L (hoping for it to be competitive as a confidence booster)
@Saints - W
@Titans - W
Browns - W (Can't see this as a toss-up)
Falcons- W (Same here)

If they can come out of this stretch at 6-3, then the 2nd half is going to be fun and we can re-evaluate the remainder of the schedule at that point.
Just give me meaningful games in December,

I'm hoping this will be the type of game that Parcells mentioned in his interview last week. He was asked when he knew that he had a team that had potential, he noted going to Buffalo and playing even with them. That's what I want to see in this game.

I think assessing @TB and @BAL as tossups is pretty optimistic. I'd say those are likely losses, at least as things currently stand. That's still a 9 win season by chevs's methodology. That said, I agree with bideau that Atlanta and Cleveland are...not likely wins, but better than tossups.

They'll also likely lose one game that we're penciling as wins now. Might win one of the ones we consider likely losses. That's typically how it goes.
