Week 4 other games

Went to bed at halftime. Looks like the Cowboys squeaked out a win.
Cowboys have problems on D. The Giants O is pedestrian at best but the Dallas D could not get off the field. To their credit, they held NY to nothing but FG's and that was enough. Daniel Jones was 3/4 on 4th down.

Didn’t stay up for the end but saw into 4th qtr
Is Danny Dimes better then i thought or cowboys D that bad?

Dallas is really awful this year.

Is it awful enough for Jerrah to pull the trigger on McCarthy? I thought he should have done it after last season.
But we know Jerrah hates to fire coaches. He let Jason Garrett stick around for 10 damn years after all.

Not sure it is McCarthy. It is more Jerrah meddling. You can tell the team is just imploding from the inside out.

This Cowboys team is undisciplined. Without question, Jerrah is meddling; that's what he does.
Name 1 coach who can cure both of those ills at once.
To me, it's obvious but Jerrah would have to swallow a Texas sized humble pie to allow it to happen. That's something he couldn't do with Jimmy Johnson yet he did with Parcells.
Every year Jerrah sells tickets to Cowboys fans based on the pledge of a SB win 'this' year. He's a promoter and he's good at that. But the fans are tired of hearing it after 30 years with only 4 playoff wins and no SB wins. Jerrah is 1 coaching hire away from gaining instant credibility for him and his Cowboys with the fans. Can he eat that humble pie?

I think his son Stephen has done a great job with the roster over the years. Bill actually said this a couple of years ago about how much he admires the way the Cowboys have managed their team for a long time. So I don't think Jerrah would strip his son of the roster management and hand it to Bill. Now if Bill was willing to go and just coach then I think it becomes interesting. I think probably the biggest issue with any team hiring Bill is he is still mired in old school football of defense/run game first. I don't think owners trust him to be able to morph his philosophy to today's game. JMO. But him not having a job and doing TV is a real mind blow ...

my take:
light "stop the pass"oriented defenses(nickel/dime) they run as base mostly league wide are quite susceptible to the run. attacking opposition weakness is intelligent. changing approach game to game as bb does is also intelligent but you need certain types of players (smart and versatile). schemes need to be more simple and employ more athletic players instead because the 2011 cba killed coaches who were more like bb:teaching complex read and react schemes. bill is adaptable and has proven it many times over. example: when more teams started copycatting the pats and pitt and running 3-4, those players got harder to get in the draft. so bb went away ,gradually from a 3-4 base.
