Week 5 Games

Jeez is Denver's offense pedestrian. They're constantly getting bailed out by their defense. Fraudulent 5-0 record.

And if NE doesn't open as at least a 17 point favorite next week, Vegas will be giving away hundreds of millions....

Demarcus Ware was carted off the field with a back injury. It could be a big dent on the Denver defense if it's serious.

I'm not drinking the Bengal Kool-Aid yet, but their case for legitimacy just got a whole lot stronger.

Patriots opened at a very generous -7.5 and higher than std odds as well.

What a 1st world post.

Yeah - that's usually what fans do when their team wins.

I think the reference is to the insane DEGREE of optimism based on an eeked out win against a team they prolly thought they would pulverize. Also, Rex may claim the Lombardi after a win like that. :coffee:

Cheers, BostonTim

he's horrible but this team is 100% legit. prior year Bengals would have folded today and Dalton is throwing much better this year. I'm a layman so i have no clue how to pinpoint what it is, but he's legit better as a player. accuracy, velocity, etc. tomlin is a dreadful hc, dungy is mediocre as is billick. all have sb rings.

It's his coaching staff doing it this year. Marvin has probably his best group of coaches ever and he's relinquished a lot of control to DC Paul Guenther and OC Hue Jackson. The Bengals aren't the Bungles this year.

USA Today has some pretty good comments on week 5.

31. New England Patriots at Indianapolis Colts is next week. Deflategate II. And another reminder if Roger Goodell was judged on his record in court and arbitration decisions, he would be watching games with Joe Philbin on Sundays.

Great line and fun article.

3. Obviously lots to like about the New England Patriots offense, but we want them to give the ball to Dion Lewis on every play. You never know what’s going to happen when the ball is in hands.

24. The Seahawks have now lost the last four times they have faced an AFC team on the road. Makes them happy they switched conferences in 2002.

I don't know if it was brave or stupid for the Steelers to run that play from the 1-yard line with 5 seconds to go when they could kicked a game-tying field goal, but it worked ... so I guess that makes it a brilliant gamble.

I think San Diego is the team I pay the least amount of attention to, care the least about and know the least about in the NFL. Sometime, I forget there even IS a San Diego Chargers.

I watch the Chargers and wonder every week why Danny Woodhead doesn't get 40 touches a game.

That's what fans of shitty teams do.

Thanks to Chuck Pagano, we can put the Colts in that column this year - the Knute Rockne "life lessons" speech after barely squeaking out a win (on a missed 2-point conversion) against a team that had all of 2 wins last year.

You could seriously feel Andre Johnson, Frank Gore, Robert Mathis and Adam Vinatieri rolling their eyes through the tv, during that piece of stand-up comedy.

You can retire that Ditka "We became a team today" video when he was with the Saints as they went on to go 2-10 the rest of the season, and replace it in perpetuity with that Chuck Pagano video.

Nice coach you've got there. :coffee:

Stay Classy!

Back in LaDainian Tomlinson's time, the Chargers were quite good for a while. In a time when most of the league was going pass happy, they had a rather brutal running attack. The rest of the league was designed to stop each other, and seemed to have problems dealing with the Charger's different approach.

Their best year they ran into Tom Brady in the playoffs, poor sods. Some of their fans still think they were entitled to win it all that year.

There was also a clash in dancing and taunting styles. Their players would dance, mouth off in the press, taunt, and otherwise act in very unpatriotic ways before and during the game. The Patriots resolved not to prance and strut... until after the clock hit 0:00. Neither team and neither fan base appreciated the other's style.

They are far removed from what they were in those days, but some fraction of the then intense mutual disrespect lingers, at least for me.

Stay classy, San Diego!
