Week 5 Games

Back in LaDainian Tomlinson's time, the Chargers were quite good for a while. In a time when most of the league was going pass happy, they had a rather brutal running attack. The rest of the league was designed to stop each other, and seemed to have problems dealing with the Charger's different approach.

Their best year they ran into Tom Brady in the playoffs, poor sods. Some of their fans still think they were entitled to win it all that year.

There was also a clash in dancing and taunting styles. Their players would dance, mouth off in the press, taunt, and otherwise act in very unpatriotic ways before and during the game. The Patriots resolved not to prance and strut... until after the clock hit 0:00. Neither team and neither fan base appreciated the other's style.

They are far removed from what they were in those days, but some fraction of the then intense mutual disrespect lingers, at least for me.

Stay classy, San Diego!

If Marlon McCree does what Marty Schottenheimer told them to do during the week, fall down after an interception, they probably would have

Instead of Schottenheimer still coaching the Chargers, and being a mortal lock for the HoF - we've got what we've got now.

I will never tire of seeing the Chargers lose.

What's up fellas? Haven't had a chance to visit lately. Bills pulled out an ugly win. Patriots stomped the Cowgirls. Then again, the Cowgirls had no Romo or Dez. They will have both by Dec 27th when we play them (go figure). A lot of surprise winners this past week. Hoping for a Jets meltdown this weekend.

I started Edelman on my fantasy team thankfully. But I have to say, I watched the Patriots run one pick play (which the ref correctly flagged), then they went right back to another pick play where Amendola put his hands up in the air that sprung Edelman. As if the Pats said to themselves "they'll never flag us for a pick play on two consecutive plays". Outrageous. You guys must have the refs paid off for the next 10 years.

*stirring stirring*

Doesn't Davey Jones have a locker @ the bottom of lake George? ROFL

They were actually flagged twice for picks in that game, but it's a mortal lock that anytime a guy is waving his hands and holding them up, that he did something and is trying to indicate "NOTHING TO SEE HERE". Yet, DA didn't get a flag. ROFL

I'm with you. Hey, if anyone has perfected the pick play it is the Pats. I seriously think they got flagged on the one and then BB said "F$#* it, run it again...they'll never flag us twice in a row". Boom...TD. I'm happy b/c Julian had a kick ass game for my fantasy team. But damn...they push the envelope on those plays every week. Don't be surprised when other teams start doing it more and more (thanks to BB).

The Colts stung them enough over the years that they may have decided to incorporate them more into the repertoire. Other thing is the stacked receiver formations which are another way to help receivers get open are not a big favorite of Brady's (per Mangini when he was in the media still).
But yeah, they do them a bunch. I'm ok with "do it until it is called" for most things...I just want the officiating to treat both teams equally.

Asking the refs to be fair and equal is a tall task. They generally do so...but one team (us as fans) will always feel that we were screwed. The Bills game had a tackle where the Titans LB pulled Tyrod Taylor down from behind and they took hold of his jersey collar. Tyrod's ankles were under him and they called a horse collar. About five minutes later, Bradham (Bills) pulled down Mariota from behind but grabbed his shirt on the numbers and Mariota's legs were not stuck under him. They intially called horse collar then said no flag. It was the right call to hold the flag, but if they didn't conference it, it could have turned ugly and cost us a game. I think the officiating works as best it can but will never be perfect.

I watch the Chargers and wonder every week why Danny Woodhead doesn't get 40 touches a game.

Excellent point Tommy. Woodhead is leading all RBs with >25 touches in points/touch. Someone isn't paying attention. Gordon ranks 50th in pts/touch. Just sayin...

HOMER ALERT:
Which is why they should listen to BB and let all plays be subject to review. I'd say give the coaches 1 more challenge each and call it a day.
Coaches have so little control, but have the most to lose when calls are incorrect. At least give them a fighting chance to right wrongs.

It's official. The Patriots ended the Weeden era in Dallas. Cassell named starter for next game.

Seahawks approve of tolmin call. Running bell with 5 second to go on the 1. Instead of that quick chant to bulter
