Cheers, BostonTim

I kind of feel bad for the kid. He's largely at fault but his coaches did little to help, they looked like an offense completely unprepared.

Their first mistake was flapping their jaws during the week.

just thinking- how many times over the BFB/TFB era have we seen headlines like this pertaining to young JETE QBs getting dismantled by the Pats?

I don't recall seeing any flapping. Would love to see links
Not sure about the other players but I wouldn't really say that what Darnold said was necessarily flapping, he was just trying to be a leader and show some confidence.

“Their defense is good, they have been all year,” Darnold said after practice. “But just like any team, they’re not unbeatable. So we’ve just got to go out there, find the weakness in the defense and keep working it. So that’s what we’re going to do on Monday night.”

A couple of nit picks about offense from the game last night:

  1. Sony not catching the ball on perfectly setup play
  2. Edelman drop on long pass
  3. Running game inconsistency

If Sony had caught that pass, he would have had a huge gain, if not a touchdown. I have hoped Brady would throw to him more, and had heard he was good at catching the ball in college, but I haven't seen much of that pass catching ability on display with the Pats. Hope Brady has confidence in him.

On Edelman's uncharacteristic drops last night, I think he is still hurting. When you are in pain, or fear the pain of a hit, your concentration may be compromised. I hope the bye week heals him up a bit.

The running game was better last night. I liked how we kept trying to gain that one yard when we were down near the goal line. It was as if BB and McDaniel's were trying to prove a point - we can do this - and they finally did. Also glad to see a cameo from Harris. Maybe he is part of the secret weapon to unveil in the second half of the season.

I wonder if he could play a little FB in a pinch

Loved KVN's smug grin after Michel scored following his turnover! ROFL

Just an FYI - Sam Darnold was the AFC Player of the Week in week 6. :D

Certainly didn’t take long for Paddles to live up to the rep and take one ...

"Pizza Paddles", for those that weren't around here back then, was the nickname I gave Watson from back in the day. It came from my Jr. High football coach, who was a funny bastard. Suffice it to say that I was not a big fan of Watson.

It's not that he was a terrible player, he was decent, but my belief was that he wasn't a warrior, was a half-assed blocker, seldom rose to the occasion and most definitely did not become what he should have been given his elite strength, speed and intelligence. If Watson had 90% of Edelman's want-to and toughness he might've ended up in the HOF. Not hyperbole to me.

Ben might've crushed the Wunderlic test (I think he got a 48, which is phenomenal), but he never really seemed to show much in the way of football intelligence. Took way too many penalties, false starts and the like for a borderline genius.

Having said that, I think he became a tougher, better football player after he left and it remains to be seen what he can give us, but despite getting whacked in the facemask with the first target, I was reasonably pleased with his performance.

He'll give us a little bit of what we need until Gronk "feels it" enough to come back.

I'll also mention that Tomlinson looked bad on a tough assignment early on (reach block) but he showed me enough last night to believe that he is already and by far the best blocking TE we have and might help at FB. One week in the system and he looked pretty assignment aware. He might stick around. He really blasted into a couple of folks.
