We're going after Jimmy G.

I think it's a significant gamble. This isn't Newton, Winston, Mariota etc who would come cheap. Jimmy will have a huge price tag on dollars and trades. And he is injury prone, liable to break at any time.

I think the ship has sailed on Jimmy G being the starter here. I can't see BB giving up significant draft capital for him when there are holes all over the roster that need to be filled. Plus he's injury prone.

According to BR this is "far and away their Plan A".

Don't have a link, it just came up as an alert on my phone.

Yeah that was put up for discussion yesterday and got no play. The post was buried quickly so it's understandable you didn't read it.
I mean, it depends...it could be fucking awesome. If JimmyG could be immortal, DUH?!?!

Babes. Victories, trophies, SBWins, HOF/S, FUCK/YEAH!!!!
Well, old porn stars anyway.

I hope they get a good back-up, too, because no way is Jimmy G. playing 17 games.

$25M this year and $25.6M next year. ROFL

I think you guys covered my feelings on this pretty well. The only thing I'll add is that JimmyG's stock around the league has plummeted significantly the last 2 years due to all the things you mentioned above. The Pats know this so if they get him, somehow it will be on the cheap. His SB appearance has already been discounted for all kinds of reasons, not the least of which is that SF roster was an absolute powerhouse and JG may have been the weakest link on offense.

Honestly, I'd much rather use the capital it would take to get JG to move up and draft a QB. Then sign a cheaper but competent FA veteran to help bring along Stidham and the draftee.

One thing to remember as we get closer to FA and the draft -

LYING SEASON IS IN FULL SWING.

Where do we think that Plan A report came from? I mean, the Pats are secretive so who would know? Exactly, probably leaked by the Pats to Bedard.
Why? To throw off other teams competing against us for a QB in draft or in FA.
There's plenty of time for those teams to get comfortable in thinking the Pats aren't competitors for a QB...& with the idea that they won't have to move up to get their guy ahead of us. The seed is planted.
Then suddenly BB pulls off his real plan A and jumps up to 8 to swipe the QB they wanted later. (yeah, tin foil hat is on)

But remember, Operation Fortitude worked pretty damn well and it, too, was only a ruse.

NEVER trade stupid...trade SMART.

Another way of looking at - the Pats wouldn't pay Brady $25M/. Why on earth would they pay JimmyG more than that?
They wouldn't. If he's brought back it would be at a greatly reduced rate in a restructure already agreed upon and executed prior to the trade.

Beyond the questions about his health/injury history, his choice of "models" and ehh...actresses are not up to the NE QB standards for significant others, which is reason enough not to sign him. He's been in the league for awhile and hasn't even reached the Bridget Moynahan level yet...

The only way this is true is if BB has had actual confirmation from the 49ers that they were looking to move him, and if thats the case, I don't see him blabbing about it...

Until the 49ers replace JG, then its just a pipe dream... They have said repeatedly they aren't letting him go ( and I am assuming, yes assuming so there is no basis in fact just like that BR report despite Greg Bedards assurances ) unless they have a viable replacement... and no, Teddy Bridgewater is not that guy... If the 9ers trade for Matt Ryan, then I'd be inclined to believe it... but until then, its utter insanity to base our off season plans on what another team "might" do...

I've seen him with extremely hot babes...prove me wrong. Mass media is BS overall...truth.

...not that it matters as a QB goes.

Brady had a few WTF moments...

I know that BB really liked JG. But that was then and this is now. If SF wants to part ways with him why bring him back for big bucks. It doesn't make much
sense.

To be honest I really have no clue who either have dated beyond what I glean through osmosis as a Pat's fan. Was basically a supermodel > porn star throwaway joke.

That being said, Jimmy's contract makes a trade unappealing, but I wouldn't be unhappy if they sign him if he's cut.

Guys were running wide open with only grass in between them and the end zone in that super bowl loss. He totally missed it. I guess he’s thinking more about the washed up porn stars he’s dating. No thanks to Jimmy.

That’s not even getting into the fact that he can’t stay healthy and will want huge money.

I wouldn't think he'd have a high trade price. He was traded for a second round pick and now has wear and tear. I like him a lot but like others am concerned about staying healthy.
