Thought I'd start talking about the upcoming game. I'm really looking forward to this season and hope I get pleasantly surprised by this team. Right out of the gate we get the Bengals, no easy task for any team, never mind a team with so many new parts that is rebuilding.

So many questions:
  • Is Mayo up to the task of game management? So many coaches fail at things like time management, situation strategy (going for it on 4th down), etc.
  • How will the defense scheme and perform without Bill calling the shots? Will they try to take away one thing, like Ja'Maar Chase? Will they adapt throughout the game?
  • What will the new offense look like? I expect Jacoby will get the start, but will they give Maye a couple of series? Will the play calling be creative or predictable like last year? How will the WRs look?
  • And of course, how will the Oline perform? They get a bullet point of their own as this is by far the teams achilles heel heading into the season, much like last year.
New England is a 9.5 underdog. I think this game has the potential to be closer than that. Our defense should keep us in it. Of course, if we don't win the turnover battle, all hope is lost.

Hopefully we get the game here in Indiana since we are close to Cincy. 11 days to go!

1- I thought Chase was holding out for a new contract? Maybe I'm wrong. It's happened.

2- Unless Brisket plays HORRIBLE or gets hurt, we won't see Maye on the field. The whole "one or two series" thing only happens in preseason.

3- My hope for the O-line is a good 4th quarter. A sort of "they figured sh*t out" scenario. They're REALY bad.

Their D isn't the greatest in the world. I think this game is pretty tight overall especially since it's week one. A lot of weird things happen in week ones.

Per this article, Chase is expected to play: Bengals expect star WR Chase to play in opener

Take Cinicinnati and the over. They've got a statement to make, and the right team to make it against.

they were talking on a national radio show about suicide pools and how week 1 can take out a lot of folks who "assume" an easy win. Week 1 can be screwy and you never know what can happen. I suspect a lot of Week 1 pools will have folks picking Cincy.

I think if you pick against the Patriots every week in your suicide pool, you've got a really good chance to win it.

I get your 'any given Sunday' thing - but I fear we're going to see this week just how bad the Patriots are. The entire New England area's going to be out of copium by halftime.

how might the chase drama affect things? taylor said he'd practice...he shows up in street clothes.

This is also the first time in awhile that Burrow hasn’t started the season with some sort of injury.
