What was the last show you binged, and was it worth the time?

Landman. Really liked it. About life in the Oil Business in the Permian Basin around Midland/Odessa, Texas. Like Alk, my wife put me onto it.

There's a very good podcast called Boomtown that Landman is based around. The Podcast talks about life on the "Patch" and the history of it etc.

I started watching The Penguin on HBO Max. So far it is excellent and I have heard that it gets even better. I got two episodes in and then my wife wanted to watch it with me so we started over.
I rotate streaming services and Max is one I currently have. Penguin was fantastic. You can dislike the comic book genre and still appreciate it if you like crime/drama. Has something for everyone and the cast is terrific.

Just wrapped up season 4 (and the series finale) of Succession and it ended just about how I wanted it to for the Roy family. Recommended.

I had never watched Deadwood and have slowly gone back to watch the first 2 (of 3) seasons. This show has its moments and Ian McShane steals the show at every turn, but I haven't been completely wowed in the manner I anticipated. Still have season 3 + the movie they made a few years back to get through. Solid show; if you like the era, worth a watch, but if you missed Sopranos/Boardwalk Empire/The Wire, I'd recommend any of those over first.

I didn't watch Deadwood either until a couple years ago. I remember really enjoying it early on but by the end, it was time for it to be over. I seem to recall the movie being a trainwreck too. I have never watched the Sopranos. At this point I think it's like The Matrix for me. I refuse to watch it just to see people's reaction when I tell them that I haven't seen it. :ROFLMAO: I tried to watch The Wire a while back but it just didn't seem to stand the test of time.

The Sopranos would require a solid investment in your time. I think it's 6 seasons but is still the GOAT for me. I feel the same way you do about other shows (Dexter, Sons of Anarchy, et al) so not twisting your arm by any means, I will just say, I think it still holds up and knowing some of the content you like, I think you'd get get a return on your investment in the time spent watching. I'll leave it at that.

And since you mentioned Boardwalk Empire (or DID you???), I think it's one of the most underrated shows ever. Prohibition-era Atlantic City with high-profile gangsters from that period... just an amazing show.

So happy there's finally a 2nd season of Severance. One of if not the best running shows right now. If you've never seen it, I guarantee you can't help but to binge watch the 1st season once you start, unless you have no soul.

How I remembered how to multi quote is apparently not clicking in my head.

Sopranos we own on DVD and I have seen repeatedly in its entirety. Simply love the cast and show. Was a shame we lost James G, without him this show would not have made it. Left too soon. The movie was not too bad and had his son in it which was great.

Severance, so happy it is back. Ready to watch it.

I was a Deadwood fan but now I can't even tell you the cast members or seasons like I can with Sopranos and other series I watch over and over.

X-Files I have seen repeatedly and we own the complete series. I could easily watch it right now also. Just some on a list of mine.

I haven't watched it in ages but the other day I was flipping through the channels and the episode about the flukeworm guy was just starting. I was glued to the tv even though it was well past my bedtime. :ROFLMAO:

It’s as realistic as the NFL is…but, the two blondes are hot. I’ve worked in the oil field (Bakken) off and on for a decade. So many things are not accurate, but, “entertainment” though. ☕

All of the shows in this post are very good

Has anyone checked out American Primeval on Netflix? Was considering giving it a look, so feel free to save me the time by telling me how awful it is...

Just finished episode four. It is incredible and I'm already pissed that there are only six episodes.

This show is one of the best on right now.

if you are a big fan of Brigham Young ---- you will think it's awful :)

otherwise, it's a well done portrayal of the tribulations of life during the Western Expansion of settlers in the US in the mid 1850's Utah territory

realistic, gritty, cruel ---- I loved it

Mondays are my office days and I work those from home so I find myself putting on something I’ve already seen. The last few Mondays it’s been Hell On Wheels. I really enjoy the show and The Swede is just a sick MFer.

I loved that show. I seem to remember not caring for how it ended but you can say that about just about any show I suppose.

Just finished all thirty seven episodes of Il Commissario Montalbano. Italian acted, directed and with English captioning. Based on the well done novels about Sicilian detective Salvo Montalbano by Andrea CamillerI watched it on Kanopy. On Prime I think. Good stories and a wacky cast of characters. Highly recommend it if captions are ok for you. Personally I went to lots of captioned foreign films as a young adult in the Boston Cambridge area. I highly prefer captioning to what I call flub-a -dubbing.
Same. I hate dubbed stuff and won't watch anything dubbed. It takes so much away from the original.

Currently watching Dexter: Original Sin

It's surprisingly good because it tells the tale of Dexter's origin without the nuisance that the characters became overtime (especially Deb—god she was insufferable).
