Calzones can be great, but IMHO, they are far more dependent on the "crust" than Pizza, since it surrounds the whole damn thing.

If the dough is heavy, it's a boat anchor sitting in your stomach.

If it's light, they are divine.
IMHO. with regard to pizza, crust is nearly everuthing. Not drawn to calzones but I have had and enjoyed both good and bad,

Thin crust all the way for me. Juliana's (just off the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn bridge) was really good.

Various places locally do good takeout pizza. In terms of chains, a relatively new one called Franco Manca is pretty good - sourdough base and nice flavours.

London has some decent pizza places thanks to Italian influence, as well as some crap ones.

The rest are your typical chain places here. Not a fan of Pizza Hut tbh. We also have Papa Gino's and Domino's over here.
