I used to be a big tennis fan lost interest in the sport about 20 years ago.
It seemed like for a while the sport was being dominated by Eastern Europeans in both the Men's and Women's with names that had 25 letters and couldn't pronounce. :D
My wife started to watch Wimbledon a few years ago and I watched with her, now there are a lot of young good American players.
This year Serena Williams is pulling a Tom Brady and unretiring to play in Wimbledon. She's lost a ton of weight.
Anyway someone started a thread about kickball so I'll start one about tennis in the offseason.

For a solid 10-15 years, I was obsessed with Wimbledon. I believe it was largely due in part that when school would let out in the northeast, it coincided with the start of Wimbledon and I'd spend some lazy summer mornings watching. It just kind of became a thing.

I still watch when I can but definitely no longer obsessed and I rarely watch any of the other grand slam events.

Agree on the young American talent!

Which reminds me: Anderson is his name, tennis his game. One of the very special planeteers. Miss him and many others.

The best part about Wimbledon is when it finishes. I used to commute to near there, and it was even more horrible than normal for two weeks.
You don't hear Americans complain about all the foreigners in our country for the kickball tournament. How much traffic congestion do you think it cause when these visitors drive on the wrong side of the road. :lecture:
And no one has been shot, YET.

Tomorrow there will be a quarterfinal match between Jessica Pegula and Coco Gaulf.
One will lick the other which will mean there will be an American woman in the semifinals.
Jessica Pegula is the daughter of the Buffalo Bills owner, which increases her chances of losing when the games get bigger.

Exciting match between Jessica Pegula and Co Co Gaulf.
Jessica got on top of Coco right off.
Then in the 2nd Coco reversed and went on top of Jessica.
Now it looks like Coco will come out on top as Jessica playing like there's 13 seconds left.

I now have a strange erection after reading this…

The Men's quarterfinal match between 2 guys whose names I can spell was amazing. It went 5 hours and ended in a 10 point tiebreaker.
The young guy from Canada would not buckle to the old pro from Serbia.
I would have to say that it was more dramatic, interesting, and exciting than a soccer match.

OMG, a Brit is actually in the mens semi-finals. Mr. Arthur Fery ranked, 140th in the world, unseeded and a wildcard entry at Wimbledon, is in the Gentleman's semi-final.
The last American man was beaten today.
Nobody from the mighty nation of Belgium was even close to making the top 50. I guess they were all busy embarrassing the USA in kickball.

Wow, that was an epic ladies' semi-final. Coco had a match point and lost the match. An all-Czech final is in store, which is amazing.
