MERGED: Mega thread about all the Super Bowl 42 books on Amazon yet to be written

It's the Globe. You know, the wholly owned subsidiary of the New York Times? It ain't karma if the enemy attempts the jinx. 8) PS. I thought about looking up the exact ownership percentage, but figured I'd use the same level of fact-checking as the Globe would. Google + wikipedia validates...

    Cassell Makes Me Sad

Cassel threw passes in three meaningful games this year. He sucked out loud against Miami (0/2 with a pick) and looked adequate against Washington (2/3 for 28 yards and a rushing TD) and Buffalo (2/2 for 10 yards). The sample size is too small to call a trend, but he's probably okay if the rest...

did terry glenn get a ring?

The league awards rings to all the active players, and allows the team to decide whether to purchase additional rings for inactive players/players on IR/practice squadders. IIRC, the Patriots after Superbowl XXVI allowed the active players to decide who among the inactive (&c) players would get...

LMAO Maroney Interview: "I dont want to blow my wad early"

Best guess: "Don't chase the ladies, chase the money. One you've got that, the ladies will chase you."

Better Watch Who's Sitting Next To You

I've been to East Orange. "Mellow" is why the kid wasn't shot in the face, using every bullet in the gun.

Should Dungy have just kept his mouth shut?

IIRC, league rules require a team with a playoff bye to allow coaches to interview for a league job that would be a promotion, i.e. the Patriots had to allow Dimitroff (their director of college scouting) to interview for the Falcons' GM position. Note that, even so, that particular case was...

    Asante's Worth Today

QFT. At worst, Asante Samuel is one of the top 5-10 cornerbacks in the league right now. He's the only one that good entering free agency. Some team is going to back the Brinks truck into his driveway, and he's not going to turn them down.

    I'd Like To Commend...

It's football. I'd rather see teams try to win a frikkin' game, than see them tippie-toe around moaning "Oh, NOOOOO, we might get a starter injuuuuuured." The Patriots get their bye week next week. Don't be cross that the Giants didn't give them another.

    Patriots week on NFLN

Don't forget: NFLN is promoting a game on their own network. Drumming up irrational hate for the Patriots is just fine with them, so long as it drives ratings.

Where is that thread about "when will Brady break the TD record"?

IIRC, it was a strike year. One cancelled week and three scab games that year.

    Troy's Muff

Re: Re: Troy's Muff The game went long. Did you notice the lack of commercials in the third quarter? CBS was trying to get to "60 minutes" in its entirety, on the same day it was supposed to air.

Who is the most overrated player in the NFL right now?

 It's one article. How far would I really have to search to find an article at least that critical of Matt Light?

Who is the most overrated player in the NFL right now?

Fair points, though I'm not sure how "He's a decent tackle, but not one of the three best in the AFC" became "poor." Consider another good tackle: Marcus McNeil of San Diego. They've given up 21 sacks on far fewer pass attempts, but how many can be chalked up to Rivers' slower release, or other...

Matt Light. He's a decent tackle, but not one of the three best in the AFC.

    Offseason Speculation: Asante Samuel

Blue Gay is also a free agent after this season. Should be cheaper to sign than Samuel, but free agent corners have been getting crazy money lately. And yes, Gay isn't the player Samuel is, but he's a perfectly useful nickel corner who started and won a Super Bowl. Some team will offer him good...

Moore signed; Baker, E Jackson waived.

Simple reason: Jackson's less likely to clear waivers than Baker.

Now ask me where my hand has been." 5. (singing) "Well, I've got the horse and she's got the saddle... together, we're gonna...

BostonNow Reporter about the final game/network stuff

Except for public TV and (very) local channels, NJ has no TV of its own. About half the state gets its broadcast from NYC, the other half, from Philadelphia. So the half that gets the NYC broadcast, will get the Patriots-Giants game. The other half, not.

    What's up with Stallworth?

I agree, with some minor quibbles: 1. I don't think Wilfork will be as expensive as Seymour. Maybe more than Ty Warren. So that problem seems quite solvable, in the $2.5-3.5 million cap range. 2. There's not going to be enough money for the Patriots to keep Asante Samuel. Someone's going to...
