Well, at least we know this isn't a shotgun marriage. . . . :rimshot:

    O'Connell traded to Jets

Who said they got anything more than a conditional 7 if O'Connell sticks for the entire season? I wouldn't be surprised if the JEST just pick his brain and then kick him to the curb after Week 2. Then again, "Sexy Rexy" (excuse me while I go barf) might be stupid enough to cut Clemens and keep...

    So on cassel this year

That's what insurance is for. :) On a more serious note, though, his time is running out to sign a long-term deal. In fact, I believe he has until Wednesday, or he and the Chiefs are required to be under this contract for the 2009 season (although he could sign a new long-term contract before...

    So on cassel this year

Yes. In fact they get one extra transition tag, so they can use the franchise tag on one and the transition tag on another, or use the transition tag on two players. Remember, though, that (A) there's no compensation for a transition tag, and (B) if there's no new CBA, Cassel is an RFA, not a...

    Julian Edelman - thoughts

Well, he might not be ready for the 53-man roster, but he is ready for the rookie haircut: Amazing. He actually manages to make Cassel's high fade look good. :jester:

This idea came from Box. Blame him. :) Option A: Option B: Option C: Option D:

    It's draft day!!!!!

    It's draft day!!!!!

    Bad way of looking at it. They still have 13 picks, though: 2.34, 2.41, 2.47, 2.58 3.73, 3.83, 3.89, 3.97* 4.124 5.170* 6.199, 6.207* 7.234

And multiple trade offers on the table, too, apparently.

By one measure, the 2008 Patriots were one of their better all-time teams

IIRC: (1) This was the second largest number of first downs in Patriots history (after 2007). (2) I believe Cassel also led the league in drives of 10+ plays, and I know he tied the franchise record for most plays in a drive against Buffalo. And, if there is any justice in this world, Cassel...

Why you should all step in off the ledge...

I wouldn't say they abused it, although I agree that they were not expecting the tag to be used that way when the NFLPA first agreed to it. If they had really wanted to, though, the NFLPA could have insisted on concessions that would have made it harder to do tag-and-trades.

That is not a surreal answer. ;)

[Humor] How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Yes, a silly thread, but it can still be fun. And the best part is, there's almost an infinite number of correct answers! I'll start with one of my favorites: Two. One to hold the giraffe, and the other to fill the bathtub with brightly-colored power tools.

KC Chiefs Pro Shop Welcomes Matt "Castle"

Actually, here's the sad part: (1) You can't buy a jersey for any of their 2008 QBs. (2) You can preorder a Cassel jersey. But something seems a bit, I dunno, off about the Cassel jersey. :p And, BTW, those are all the replica jerseys they have available right now.

    Cassel trade screencaps?

Can anyone get screencaps of the Cassel trade making frontpage news on most sports websites? [I'm at work, so I can't. :( ] Would ANYONE here have predicted that in September?

Debunking the Giant Fallacy - Matt was NEVER going to stay.

Vrabel as NFLPA representative would have no effect; in fact, since he's actually higher-up in terms of clout, if anything they wouldn't want to get rid of him. Besides--it just means the players have to choose a new rep.

Is Jeremy Green saying the Pats should keep Cassel?

I don't have insider access at FESPN. Don't let these players get away "With free agency set to open Friday, Scouts Inc. takes a look at five available players who are most important to their current teams." They have four players listed--Warner, Collins, Haynesworth, and Lewis. Is Cassel...
