I haven't heard anything about a signing. Neither ESPN nor the Pats website have anything on it.

Last thing I heard about Redman was when the Pats worked him out last week but haven't heard anything since then.

It's being confirmed in Michael Felger's Patriots Notebook in Wednesday's Boston Herald:

The Patriots aren't quite done with the 2004 season, but that hasn't precluded them from doing some work on 2005.

The Pats have reached an agreement with former Baltimore starting quarterback Chris Redman on a contract that won't officially kick in until next year, according to Redman's father, Robert.

The elder Redman said his son was looking forward to getting back into the NFL as Tom Brady's backup after recovering from surgery to repair a torn labrum in July.

``He's just now getting back to the point where he's healthy,'' Robert Redman said from his Louisville, Ky., home. ``He's happy for the opportunity.''

Redman, who was drafted ahead of Brady by the Ravens in the third round in 2000, started six games in 2002. He worked out for the Pats last week.

Sometimes the fans get news from other fans before the media. As in this case.

Perhaps it has to be passed by the NFL to determine if the Pat's have to give up a roster spot for the playoffs.
