Nostalgic Music Thread

While in my guitar mode mindset, I have to add this in honour of my fav guitarist.

Though I was living in Toronto at the time of this show, I missed seeing it. Shame, but I did catch him a few times.

This is one of the most delightful "island" songs I've ever heard, Michael Dinner's Jamaica. He only did 1 or 2 albums for Fantasy records back in the 70's, he's now a TV producer.

New to me, RN. Has that early 70's west coast sound.

Speaking of Fantasy records .... got to get some CCR in here.

This was my late Aunt's favourite song which I used to play for her whenever possible.

For serious. Look at all who's in there. Even the Clevend brown's, right?

How did it ever take so long?

Yea BT, that's a question for the ages.

Here's another that should be in - Little Feat. This song - Gringo- is just a masterpiece, the Steely Dan guys must have loved it:

Billy Cobham and the Brecker Brothers and some other very talented musicians, laying down some funk.

Awesome.

Ray amused me. What can I say?

Pneumonic - John Prine, yes, one of my favorites.

From his first album, early 70's, one highly poignant song accompanied with great still photos:

Song: Cruisin'
Artist: Al Di Meola

One night, while at a house party in the pre-Internet days, we were sitting around talking about jazz and jazz guitarists such as George Benson and John McLaughlin and Earl Klugh.

I mentioned that it was too bad that Al Di Meola had passed away, and my friends at the party said, no, he was still with us. I said I heard a song on the radio that was introduced by the DJ saying it was done by the "late Al Di Meola."

So we called another friend who was a big jazz fan (it was about midnight at the time) and asked "Hey, Harry, is Al Di Meola dead?" Harry was a little confused, as he had been asleep, but he answered that he didn't think so.

We later concluded, after more drinking, that what I had heard was an intro to a song by "the great Al Di Meola."

But every few years, we call Harry at midnight and ask him if Al is still with us.

And he is.
