Don't get me wrong, I am a happily married, very fortunate man. But a few years back I ran across my high school sweetheart. She did well for herself, too. Today is her birthday. Some things you never forget or want to.

Been reading Robbie Robertson's superb book "Testimony" about the life and times of his group "The Band". Always loved this tune from their first album, Garth Hudson's organ play is great:

A memory many of us in here can surely relate too.

Here's my sweetheart story from back in the day.

Years '79-'82 my gal and I bombing around in my '72 LeMans with tunes blaring on my Craig/Jensen stereo, doing all kinds of wild and crazy stuff that teens do. I thought she might be the one but off to university each of us went. We re-connected on facebook several years ago.

This was our song

Much talent in that group. And a personal connection for my family as well. My uncle was best buds with Rick Danko growing up, played in bands together and Rick dated my Aunt for a time. I also have one of Rick's beat up Epi basses which he gave to me when I was a young kid.

As for Robertson, I too love his solo work. This is an often played song of his off his Storyville album.

"This is sure stirring up some ghosts for me"...

Been a lazing around listening to great Canadian music Sunday for my wife and I. We ended with this:

That line is a great start to be finished off with the equally great ending "you like it now but you'll learn to love it later"

Pneumonic - I so, so, so, agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For some reason, your comment made this epic line Little Feat line pop into my head - "Red Cadillac slowing down for another look at that border town" And there are several other killer lines in there too. :toast:

Hell yeah!

George and the boys had some beauts. "And I been from Tuscon to Tucamcari, Teheachapi to Tonapah" and then into "and if you give me weed, whites, and wine ................" and "Bogart that joint"

Ah, some very fine memories indeed.

Waiting for Columbus: One of my favorite LIVE albums of all time! One of my college roommates was at the GWU concert.
Thank you.

AOT and Pneumonic - you bet - great stuff indeed...!

Next month I'll be cruising the west on a hiking/photo excursion- you know these guys (and many others) will be in heavy rotation - good music really helps the miles go by quicker. Now we just gotta see Little Feat make the RRHOF - miracles do happen with the Moodies finally making it in. :toast:

YW. I never got to see LF. Lucky for your roommate.

It has got to rank right up there indeed. Based on how often I play it, it certainly is for me. And, thankfully so :toast:

To me, Tea for the Tillerman is as good as it gets. It is for this reason that it is one of my desert island albums. :toast:

"Father and Son" always gets to me.

Here's some Mudcrutch, aka Tom Petty done prior to him being a Heartbreaker.

Here's one for some soft night and a glass of wine. "Fly Me to The Moon" has been covered by many, many, artists - but I especially like this version:
