[/COLOR]Any fans of the Greg Kihn Band?

Oh yea, you bet. I remember KTCL in Ft Collins, Co. played this one quite a bit, probably in the late 70's, early 80's:

New one to me, RN. Thanks.

I played the crap out of the album "With the Naked Eye" back in very early 80's.

Some Guy Clark live in my oldies bookmark folder:

Great song. Jerry Jeff had a fine cover, And speaking of Jerry Jeff:

All right guys, good stuff- Jerry Jeff, Guy Clark, Greg Kihn. Let me add this fellow to the mix - David Bromberg.

I've heard a number of versions of this Jerry Jeff song, Mr Bojangles, but this one is my favorite by far. In the middle of the song, he describes in both a poignant and humorous fashion how JJW was inspired to write this classic:

One great album here. The playing by Charlie McCoy on this song is the reason why I started playing harp. Not many can play like this guy.

Joke, sort of. Don't forget Harpo!

Another "go to" version of a song - this is the Pat Metheny Group and a live version of San Lorenzo, recorded in Seattle in 1977. It's from a 4 song EP that was released to radio stations only back around 1980:

Pardon my French but holy fukc. '77. Pat must have only been in his early 20's? Not terribly surprised but, damn.

Thanks for this. I have a ton of ECM label stuff but I have to find an original of this version, hopefully on vinyl.

I had to go smoke a cigarette after RN's Metheny post but, this is a great consolation prize, if I dare say so myself.

LOL....Pat and his group can have that effect...! I remember back in the early 80's my office had KTCL on and they played this tune - several of the guys commented something to the effect of "are you kidding me, what a piece of music that is".

One other thing- my chiropractor is a big PM fan - I was telling him about this version - he found this 4 song EP on a CD- someone had burned it to CD and was selling it. You may check Amazon etc. I can always ask him where/who he got it from if necessary too.

Probably my fav version of this often covered song. Great vocal chops + model looks .... what's not to like?

Different of course, but I liked the Beatles.

Cheers

Perhaps my eyes also played an influential part in my prioritizing the above ;-) though, I have to say, Lennon's vocals on their cover was, spectacular.

My wife prefers The Shirelles original version over all others.

Not sure if this was posted previously or not. Nevertheless, it's good enough to post again if so.

Donovan-man of the sixties. My favorite of his many fine songs. Drips nostalgia (for me).
