Patriots are now dead last in red zone and one of the worst on converting 3rd down. Looks like the crappy 2020 Lions and Giants offenses.

Example that encapsulates everything: Patriots offensive drive to end the first half. Random run that forces a timeout. Run a QB sneak. Burn another timeout. Miss a FG. Total lack of situational awareness on the play calls.

Hasn't been pretty. Facts is facts.

Let's keep it all in one thread please.

No need to open multiple threads about the same thing.

Where is the other thread? Opened this one as the other one closed.....

Mac needs to put that one in the 10th row, instead of running backward 20 yards,

That would have been a good heads up play.

It would have been better if he had identified the blitz and put Mondre in the position to pick it up.

It would have been even better if Trent Brown wouldn't have let the rusher basically come in unblocked.

Yeah he should know that there is not 1 but 2 guys coming completely free off the edge :) .......Lets face it that poor kid does not stand a chance dropping back, We have see bad o-lines and Bad offensive coaches break QB's many times and i hope BB makes the changes after this year. But 3 coordinators in 3 years is never a good thing

Yup, the other two options would have been better. Brown was clearly not great yesterday, but even so, that offensive line was good enough, that was one of the only jailbreaks I can really recall from yesterday.

Jones had time for the most part, and was making poor throws and decisions.

"The running game fucking sucks" is cute coming from him, considering the reason they're sticking with the run is directly as a result of his play this season (also it wasn't even that bad in general, the run).

Maybe it's time for Belichick to have an honest conversation with his QB, telling him 'This is why it looks like this', rather than coddling him.

The Bills blitzed 9% of the time yesterday, and didn't get consistent pressure on the QB (he wasn't running for his life yesterday, there were only a handful of times there was actual pressure, that play was one of them), and played 90% zone.

If the other team is playing 90% zone, there's no reason the ball shouldn't be moving easily, assuming your QB can make good decisions. Receivers are open. This isn't in debate anymore. With a patchwork line still missing starters, Jones was only pressured a handful of times,

22/36 isn't nearly good enough against 90% zone, and 5.4 ypc from your RB (who only ran 10 times), is pretty damned good.

Consider that, when the QB is having a temper tantrum.

Is Mac authorized to call audibles or redirect protection? He is a smart kid so should be given license to do so.
I trust Mac to adjust at the line more than a first-time OC calling random plays and getting locked in on that protection or hot route

Mondre’s positive rushing yards against the Bills were ALL yards after contact. The OLine was terrible in both pass blocking and run blocking. Has been all year.

Mazz impression?

Patriots were 2 of 13 on 3rd down against the Raiders
Pathetic

And here from JThornton:

Pats a 1st & goal at the Raiders 2. And here's what they did with it:

  • Rhamondre Stevenson inside zone run stuffed for 1 yard.
  • Mac Jones sails one over Jonnu Smith on a corner route
  • A timeout negates a touchdown to Jakobi Meyers while Jones directs a tirade at Matt Patricia
  • Nelson Agholor broken up at the goal line
  • Another timeout because the play clock is about to run out, followed by another Mac tirade
  • A false start on Smith who was busy looking around pointing during the snap negates Jones's touchdown
  • Field goal
Yet another disastrous red zone performance. Against a barely functioning red zone defense. One we learned had given up 14 straight touchdowns on goal-to-go situations inside their own 5. But this Patriots team found six different ways not to punch it in from 2 yards out. Including Patricia subbing out Stevenson, his most reliable offensive weapon all season long, in favor of Marcus Jones, a 5-foot-8, 185 pound rookie cornerback. Twice.

Orlovsky on how predictable this offense is

"Last week, this team was under center for 23 snaps. Twenty two of those 23 snaps were runs," Orlovsky explained. "They were in the gun for 34 regular snaps [excluding the two-minute drill and from inside the five-yard line] and threw the ball 31 times out of those 34 snaps."
