I first saw him in the summer of '65 as a guest conductor at Tanglewood. Was doing my first semester at UMass that summer.


Didn't see him again until early 2000's. Maybe 3 times at Symphony hall. The sense that his great energy drove the orchestra was palpable. We were fortunate to have him all those years.
