Not know about 50 years ago, but 40 years ago it would have been "Archie Manning is a great QB."
I have no idea why that narrative was floated out there so often over the last 15+ years. I mean, we have the internet...are people not able to read? Not only that but there are more than a few of us around that saw him play. It wasn't pretty.

"That sucks donkey balls" is in reasonably common usage here. That would have made zero sense back then. In fact, in the globalised world, English is becoming increasingly homogenous.
