Preseason Game 2 - Pats vs Eagles Aug. 19, Thurs. 7:30PM

Hope it's not serious. Things it could be --> shoulder subluxation or dislocation, labrum tear, collar bone, contusion, etc.
If he goes on IR it's possible he returns in Oct. to replace an injured WR. Or stay on IR. BB will have options.
Uche's injury will be monitored...

I'm not happy that Harry's hurt again, and it seems clear he's had a solid camp, but I have yet to hear anybody mention that the pass that he got hurt going after, while a tough get, was definitely a catchable ball and it whistled straight through his hands almost like he didn't see it. It looked strange and a little familiar.

I feel like I've seen that same move with him more than a few times. A puzzling lack of focus on the ball (at times) and a certain awkwardness when he has to lay himself out for an attempt.

It seems like something you can either do or can't, but a lot of NFL caliber athletes seem to be able to do it routinely enough without whiffing on the ball and getting hurt.

I'm more concerned with Uche and, in particular, I don't like the Mac Jones left knee situation. It was clear that after scrambling Mac didn't want to put pressure on that knee. Did I mention
that it's a knee? I hate knees.

Without knowing for sure, my suspicion is that Mac's knee situation is likely not serious, otherwise I don't think he'd have been out there, particularly for 2 quarters. Uche, as you mention, seems like it may be more significant. Hopefully, not.

It's hard to say, but it did seem that he lost track of the ball the dove to get it. It didn't seem like a ball he needed to hawk down leaving his feet -- from the replay it looked like he could have caught it in stride. Either way it's a shame.

Disappointed with Nordin after a very good opening pre-season game.

Cam and Mac looked good, the run game is clearly going to be a prime weapon this season.

This was always coming with Nordin. He was wildly inconsistent at Michigan. There's good reason he only hit 72.4% during his college career. Some of those that went in were some of the ugliest FGs I have ever seen. Ball spinning sideways off his foot and just getting dumb lucky that it went in. He had some of the worst looking kicks I've ever seen.

It occurred to me that maybe he thought he was going to get lit up, like he did several times last year.

It's pretty hard to track a ball with your eyes when you have them shut tightly while you're flinching
to get hammered.

Well, after digesting everything, the Eagles treated last night's game like it was the 4th preseason game when we had 4 preseason games which is unfortunate. I would imagine the life was taken out of them when Hurts when to the hospital so they just mailed it in. I am not sure how much we can take from the game given it was a glorified scrimmage but here goes:

  • People are looking past what I think was the best sign from Jones, which wasn't his arm strength, but his ability to shrug off pass rushers while keeping his head focused downfield. That's something were the quality of the opponent isn't as determinative, and it's a good sign for the future. Which brings me to ...
  • I don't know if Jones is a better NFL player than Cam as of today, but I do know that he's currently doing much better at the fundamentals of the game. I still expect BB to make Cam the week one starter however, if Mac starts to get time with the 1s in practice than watch out, he could be the starter vs the Fins. Fingers crossed!
  • I am depressed over Nordin. Bill defended him after the game and said he bounced back but we are royally screwed at the second most important position on the field behind QB if Folk does not heal in time for the season.
  • Love the running game. Love the Oline.
  • We do not have decent third TE which is worrisome as both of our starters are hurt and may also get hurt during the season.
  • I feel bad for Harry. I am not sure why he dived for that ball when he could have just kept running and caught it. Not sure if he misread Mac's throw and did not except it to be out in front of him but it looks IR is his future. A real bummer.
  • I would talk about the defense but honestly playing against Flacco and his bionic arm snapper was a joke.

Chevs - any news on Mac's leg brace? I noticed he did get up gimpy early when he slid but seemed fine otherwise.

Also, any update on Uche?

“Again, it takes at least a day or two in these instances to really see what is happening. We will evaluate, but we’re not sure, yet”

Is that comment in relation to Uche or Jones?

IMO, this is a really tough call for Bill. It is a really fascinating Qb competition.
