I know that the Patriots are paying lip service to treating the Bills as an opponent worthy of a week's preparation time, but between us fans, we know perfectly well they are REALLY focussed on the game AFTER this weekend, which will be the long-awaited showdown at New Jersey against Eric Mangini's Jets.
At least I hope they aren't wasting time developing a game plan for the Bills. The Jets will be a real test. Mangini knows the Patriots' strengths and weaknesses like no one else: he's practically the Dr. Z of NFL head coaches, a veritable genius, only too anxious to show that he was the real brains of the Patriots' coaching staff.
I think it's pretty obvious that the reason Deion Branch has not been traded to the Jets is that the Pats are worried about this game.
I expect to see Chad Pennington go deep early, dispelling all notion of his "noodle arm."
Kevin Barlow will set a single game rushing record. The Patriots didn't look good against the Giants run offense in their last game at the Meadowlands. This game will be a real test to see what they are really made of.
