Not defending Belichick at all but was thinking if story on ESPN is true about Mangini...seems a little crazy he would say what he did b/c people will start questioning Mangini's integrity since he's admitting he was part of it before.

There is a story on ESPN stating that Mangini knew of the taping (and reported to security) b/c it used to take place when Mangini was with Belichick. If that's the case, then are Mangini's qualifications TAINTED as well? If he was hired by the Jets b/c of his success while with the Patriots, but that success was due to 'cheating', then is his reputation also at stake??? Same with Romeo C etc.

Yes he know of it when he went to the Jets and apparently told other staff there but did not report to the league at that time.

So it could be inferred as a minor form of cheating by holding back that info to benefit the Jets as opposed to immediately reporting it to the league once he left the Pats.

I believe it speaks volumes as to the innocuous nature of the tapings.

If Belichick was really -cheating- by using the Videotapes for an -unfair advantage- and Mangini really had such a -problem with it- because he's so -virtuous-, then wouldn't he have blown the whistle -while he was on the Pats-? Or how about during one of the prior three games from -last season-? How about in the Playoff game???

Clearly Mangini saw that his undertaking in NY is headed for failure and that the Patriots aren't stepping down from the top of the AFCE, so he played his cards.

He knows he was given this job too early and that if he screws it up that he'll have to wait quite a while most likely before he's given another shot as a HC. So he played dirty to try to gain an advantage to help secure his future as an NFL head coach.

He's a bastard and a coward, but it's a pretty smart move from a '**** over the competition and save yourself' standpoint.

That said, Mangini can suck shit.

Here's an interseting comment that was posted on an ESPN board:

"Let's be clear about what happened last Sunday. The Patriots broke the rules - They did not cheat. The rule they broke is no cams on the sidelines. Cheating is using the footage to gain an advantage. The camera was confiscated during the first half. The first opportunity for the Patriots to CHEAT was at halftime. With no footage, no cheating. They broke the rules, but did not have the opportunity to cheat, and the game was never affected. Get over it Jets fans - Your team couldn't touch Brady in the second half...or the first. "

Get over it, fans of suck-ass, loser franchises that can't touch the Pats.

Wait, so, due to the Pats cheating while Mangini was there, he looked better and more qualified than he actually was. So, he got the job with the Jets based on how good he looked with a team that was cheating. Thus, admitting that the Pats did it while he was there too makes him look less qualified, because his success was due to cheating. Which, once he gets fired by the Jets due to the lack of success you are predicting for him, will hurt his ability to get hired elsewhere.
So, where's the part where this saves Mangini's career?

It's my crackpot theory that he believes that the Patriots won't withstand the shitstorm of this scandal and that he can somehow pull out the AFC East this season based on that, thus saving his career.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist by trade, so admittedly there are probably numerous gaping holes in my theory. But I don't care. lol

Ummm...errr...

Truth be told, Mongoloid's career ended when he took the HC job for the NJ Jets. And this proves that BB is still Eric's Master because BB passed on that job 7 years ago.

One has to wonder how Mangini, since he knew of the Pats practices, couldn't find a way to mess with the Pats.

I guess he's just not that smart.

What gets me is that it helped make Mangini look better, but it's no big deal because the Patriots really don't get any advantage from it. Am I getting that right?

Mangini burned his bridge forever the moment he played the rat. :archive:

Karma baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whats that worth to the NFL? A first round draft pick? Suspension? What will cometh of this?
