Emerson Lake and Palmer was a music staple for me.

Me, too.

I wore out their live album "Welcome Back My Friends..." (which I preferred to BSS) and constantly listened to the eponymous album, Tarkus and Trilogy.

And the user title I've been using for years is "21st Century Schizoid Man" - a song written by Greg Lake (when he was in King Crimson).

A major influence on rock music - he will be remembered.

Really sad, he's a staple for me at this time of year.

In this video during the wise men and the camels segment, he insert a melodic passage from probably my favorite christmas song, "A russian Christmas overture".

Here it is from the late great John Fahey whose great solo guitar christmas albums belong on your playlist.

I actually liked the King Crimson stuff even more than ELP. "In the court of the Crimson King" is a classic in every sense.
I turned my kids onto it and they can't believe it's from 1969!

Another big fan, RIP Greg Lake!
ELP was first "concert" I went to in late 70's.

Same here...Saw ELP on their Brain Salad Surgery tour at MSG. I have every one of their albums/cd's. I was a drummer since I was 5. I used to love to drum to ELP songs...always a huge challenge. RIP Mr. Lake, you were a true music Icon.

BT, you'll love this version of Father Christmas with Ian Anderson

Awesome. Love the cathedral factor. And Ian has changed since the Jethro Days. ROFL :toast:

Cheers

Wow! Fantastic!

I saw Ian Anderson in 2011 or 12 in Boston with Tull... it was excellent

Maybe sacrilege in a Greg Lake thread, but saw Ian A. in a solo performance at the Colonial Theatre in Keene, NH a couple years ago and it was nirvana. This video is about as passionate as music gets for me:
