I've been using Steve Gibson's stuff for 20 odd years.

His SpinRite software is of the best disaster recovery packages out there. In addition, it lets you effectively do a low level reformat of your HD without losing any data.

His ShieldsUp stuff is one of the best ways to test your firewall out there.

It doesn't surprise me in the least that he's got a package to make a Microsquish thing go away.

It's not the first time he's done something like that.
